Unter der Bezeichnung Fiber-to-the-Desk (FTTD) wird die
horizontale Verkabelung für Datenübertragung und Telekommunikation geführt, die von einem Etagenverteiler zu
den Enddosen am Arbeitsplatz führen. In den Verkabelungsnormen für Bürogebäude ISO/IEC 11801 und
DIN EN 50173-2 ist das die tertiäre Ebene.
The term Fiber-to-the-Desk (FTTD) is used to describe the horizontal cabling in the areas of data transmissions and telecommunication, which leads from the floor distributor to the outlets
at the workplace. In the cabling standards for office premises
ISO/IEC 11801 and DIN EN 50173-2 it is the tertiary level.
Mit den in der Zukunft zu erwartenden steigenden Datenübertragungsraten (z.B. 10 Gigabit-Ethernet) werden die
bisher zwischen Etagenverteiler und Arbeitsplätzen eingesetzten Kupferkabel immer mehr durch die wesentlich
breitbandigeren Glasfaserkabel ersetzt.
Due to the expectation of rising data transmission rates
(e.g.10 Gigabit-Ethernet) in the future, the current copper cables,
which are installed between the floor distributors and work
places, will be replaced with fiber-optic cable, that offer an
increased bandwith.
Ein weiteres Anwendungsfeld für FTTD ist die Arbeitsplatzverkabelung in Gebäuden mit hohem elektromagnetischen Störpotential, wie z.B. in Maschinenhallen,
Sendeanlagen etc..
In diesem Bereich sind Kupferleitungen bei der Datenübertragung sehr störanfällig.
Furthermore, another field of implementation for FTTD, will be
the cabling between workplaces in buildings with a high
electromagnetic disturbance potential, as in assembly halls,
transmission centers etc..
Data transmissions using copper cabling are very prone to
disturbances within this area of use.

Von den Etagenverteilern werden niederfaserige LWLKabel als Anschlussleitungen zu den Dosen am Arbeitsplatz verlegt.
Low fiber cable should be installed from the floor distributor to
the outlets at the various workplaces .
Es werden üblicherweise keine werkskonfektionierten
LWL-Kabel verwendet. Stattdessen erfolgt die Konfektionierung der Steckverbinder vor Ort.
Für eine schnelle, einfache und qualitativ hochwertige
Vorortkonfektionierung bietet OSI ein feldmontierbares
Schnellmontage-Stecksystem an.
Generally, there will be no use of factory assembled optical fiber
cable. Instead, the connectors will be installed on site. In order to
provide a fast, simple and high quality installation on site, OSI
offers a quick installation with a Field Installation Connectivity
System.
