Amy spielt gern Fußball, die anderen Kinder finden sie deshalb seltsam. Jack ist taubstumm und verbringt die Nachmittage allein am Fenster seines Zimmers. Auf ganz besondere Weise nähern sich die beiden an, aber Jack scheut den
direkten Kontakt, er zieht sich wieder zurück. Als Amy von
einer Mädchenbande bedroht wird, ist Jack dann zur Hilfe.
Amy likes playing football, and is considered strange by
the other children because of it. Jack is deaf and dumb and
spends the afternoons alone at his window. The two gradually
reach out to each other in a special way, but Jack shies away
from direct contact, and withdraws into himself again. When
Amy is threatened by a gang of girls, Jack comes to the rescue.

Nachdem die achtjährige Emma aus dem Kinderheim ausgerissen ist, glaubt sie, in der Wohnung der blinden Evelyn
ein perfektes Versteck gefunden zu haben. Doch Evelyn
entgehen die fremden Geräusche in ihrer Wohnung nicht.
Es beginnt ein stilles Versteckspiel, bei dem Evelyn die Welt
durch Kinderaugen sehen lernt.
After running away from an orphanage, eight-year-old
Emma believes she has found the perfect hideaway in the
apartment of a blind woman named Evelyn. But Evelyn is
not oblivious to the strange noises in her apartment. It’s
the start of a silent game of hide-and-seek in which Evelyn
learns to see the world through the eyes of a child.

Das bekannte Grimmsche Märchen in neuem Gewand: Erzählerin ist ein Haus mit langen Armen, die Großmutter futtert
Pralinen und einige neue Protagonisten sind dazugekommen:
Dackel zum Beispiel, Rotkäppchens Bruder, oder Würstchen,
der Hund. Die Protagonisten sprechen Gebärdensprache, doch
das Gebärden steht nicht im Mittelpunkt, und es entwickelt
eine poetische Kraft, die Gehörlose und Hörende verbindet.
Grimms’ famous fairytale in a new guise: the narrator is a
house with long arms, the grandmother scoffs chocolates
and there are several new characters: Dachshund, for
example, Little Red Riding Hood’s brother, and Banger,
the dog. The protagonists speak in sign language, but the
focus of the film is not the gestures. Rather, they develop a
poetical energy that connects both deaf and hearing people.
