Section A. Engineer in Society II: Professional Practice
1.
As an engineer, you have been asked by your client to prepare a report
on water quality in Ireland. Draw a mind-map and draft the report
structure, i.e. full table of contents with a clear description of each
section.

2.
You are now Taoiseach and have seen the urgent need to address the
problem of climate change in this country. Produce a report on this
issue, making reference to material covered by various lecturers
throughout your course of study.

3.
You are asked to give a lecture to an audience of local government
officials on the issues involving planning and transport in Ireland.
Outline the lecture utilising not more than 20 slides.

Notes on Section A:
1. Reports should be
• Concise
• Structured utilising headings and sub-headings, employing a numbering system to
distinguish between them.
• All tables and figures should be titled and referred to in text.
2. The majority of marks will be awarded for method of presentation of the work, clarity of
expression and adherence to the project brief as outlined above.

Was macht eigentlich ein Bauingenieur?
1. Der Bauingenieur entwirft, berechnet und plant Bauwerke.

Er plant, und leitet die Ausführung.
3. Er berücksichtigt die Sicherheit und Wirtschaftlichkeit.
Die Hauptaufgaben liegen auf den Gebieten des konstruktiven Ingenieursbaues, des Verkehrbaues,
des Wasserbaues und Siedlungswasserbau.
Der Bauingenieur im konstruktiven Ingenieurbau muss die tragende Struktur der Bauwerke
entwerfen. Er muss sie gestalten und bemessen und konstruktiv durchbilden.
Er baut:
Hochbauten, Industriebauten, Kraftwerke, Hallen, Türme, Brücken, Tunnel, Dämme, Stützmauern,
Talssperren, Schleusen, Wehre, Wasserbehälter, Rohrleitungen,
Kläranlagen.

chose that particular bridge. How does German Bridge design compare with Irish Bridge

short account of the content of the film in English.
Or
“Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei” this is the title of a German Film. In English the film is called
“The Edukators”. Explain in English how the film portrays both titles.
