What is W.I.R?
How do you get in touch with W.I.R?
W.I.R is a shared project between the Ministry of Labour, Social and Family Affairs, and Integration, the Employment Agency Hamburg and the Jobcenter team.
arbeit.hamburg. Together with the Hamburg Refugee
Centre, the Hamburg Skilled Labour Network and other
Hamburg-based organisations for refugee support, we
want to help you find work or start professional training.

W.I.R is for:
• r efugees with residence permits who are not already
being assisted by the Jobcenter team.arbeit.hamburg,
• asylum seekers from unsafe countries of origin with
residence permits,
• and those from unsafe countries of origin with exceptional leave to remain for humanitarian reasons,
who want help and support with the development of their
professional and working opportunities here in Germany.

Team members of the Hamburg Refugee Centre
hold an initial informative discussion with you. If
you want to take part in W.I.R, your details will be
recorded and an appointment will be made for you
to have a more detailed discussion at W.I.R.
In the second
discussion at W.I.R,
we talk in greater
detail about your
living situation, for
example:
Here at W.I.R, we help you to think about how
your professional life can move forward and which
steps are necessary in order for it to do this.
• Do you have family?
• a German language course,
• Which languages do you speak?
• How is your health?
• a n assessment to see if your qualification is
comparable to the relevant German qualification,
• What is your status regarding permission to stay?
• a traineeship or academic study,
Please only come to W.I.R once you have an appointment. Please get in touch with the Refugee
Centre in order to arrange your appointment.

As well as this, we will discuss your professional
capabilities and opportunities, for example:
• Do you have a school leaving certificate?
• Do you have a professional qualification?
• Have you already worked in a specific profession?
This might include:
• a n internship with a company,
• a further professional qualification,
• a job.
As well as this, you may need the following:
• a ssistance regarding your health,
• support for your family,
• What work would you like to do in Germany?
What work might you be able to do in Germany?
• other support focussing more on your living
situation.
• How can we help you towards professional
qualification and employment?

Please note:
Bring all important documents that you have
with you to this appointment. The assistants at
the Refugee Centre will advise you as to which
documents you need.
Your details will be treated confidentially and will
only be passed on within W.I.R with your permission.
W.I.R is there to support you on your way to finding work and further education. Therefore, we will
advise you according to your individual circumstances and use the W.I.R Company Service to help
you look for a suitable traineeship, job, internship
or course of studies.
