TBS Paris Trip

TBS Premier League Tour
‘Football is life’.
These three simple words uttered by Mourad Hida Y7 on the first day of The British School’s
Premier League Trip to London, Manchester and Hull left us in no doubt as to why the children chose to join the trip. They were lucky enough to visit many of the world’s best football
stadiums including Wembley Stadium, Old Trafford, Etihad Stadium, Emirates Stadium and KC
Stadium. One of the highlights of the trip included watching Manchester City hand Liverpool
their first defeat of the season.
My personal highlight of the trip was seeing the children meet with Hull City’s very own
Egyptian, Ahmed Elmohamady. Following his tireless performance during Hull’s home draw
with Stoke City, a fixture we all witnessed live, he met up with the boys for photographs,
autographs and a quick chat.
The children also had the opportunity to take part in a training session hosted by world class
coaches employed by Fulham FC. Every player worked hard throughout the trip and made
vast improvements to their own game thanks to their positive approach to training and
matches. However, I must single out the outstanding performances of Youssef Diab Y7 and
Youssef Ashraf Y10 during challenge matches against local teams in Manchester. Both the
Junior and Senior sides performed admirably in all fixtures against very strong opposition and
they can be proud of their achievements on the pitch.
The children also relished the opportunity to live like a professional footballer for a short
space of time, taking part in interviews, photo shoots and press conferences throughout the
week. Away from football the children had some great experiences that they will remember
for many years to come. They particularly enjoyed taking in the magnificent sights of London.
This included many photo opportunities at Big Ben and Buckingham Palace and a fantastic
view of London whilst riding the London Eye. They also enjoyed a shopping trip to The
Trafford Centre and a fun-filled trip to the Alton Towers theme park. Mrs Tanya Andreeva and
Mr David Honey also enjoyed the trip and both felt that the students coped well with the
extremely busy itinerary.
The children were shining ambassadors for our school throughout the trip,
behaviour was exemplary and I lost count of the number of compliments the group received
from members of the public for their polite, well-spoken manner and general attitude. We all
had a fantastic time and I hope this trip will be repeated in the future.
