Dear Media,
We are happy to welcome you on this first edition of the IRONMAN Vichy and IRONMAN 70.3 Vichy. This
year, almost 3330 athletes from all around the world will gather in Vichy.
In order to make this event unforgettable for everybody, including you the Media, we will organize a very
unique weekend. The athletes will start by a swim into the lake d’Allier, then they will bike through the
beautiful countryside of Auvergne with view over the volcanos. Finally, they will run all through the very
center of Vichy including the thermal baths and the opera. A huge screen will stream the whole event live
to entertain the spectators.
Of course, the finish line will be an unforgettable moment for all the finishers and so 3 speakers will
create and maintain a stunning atmosphere over the IRONMAN colored stadium which will be lighten by
fireworks following the arrival of the last athletes.
Besides the IRONMAN Vichy and the IRONMAN 70.3 Vichy, triathletes, attendants and locals will be able
to participate into two races, the IRONKIDS and the IronGirl.
Building such a big event would not be possible without the entire support of the territorial collectivities,
(city of Vichy, Vichy Val d’Allier, Conseil Régional Auvergne, Conseil Général Allier and Conseil Général du
Puy-de-Dôme), our private partners and our army of over 1000 volunteers. Without them, none of this
could happen.
To everyone, we wish you to have a fantastic weekend and to have a lot of fun while covering all our
events. Rendez-vous on the finish line on Sunday evening.

Vichy, one the biggest IRONMAN.
In the world of Triathlon, The IRONMAN Tour is composed by 41 events IRONMAN and 130 IRONMAN
70.3, and it everywhere on the planet. On each continent, athletes can find their own IRONMAN with a
Championship. Gather in the same city and on the same weekend both of these events is simply unique.
For a first edition, 3,500 athletes are expected, putting Vichy as one of the largest triathlon in Europe. No
doubt that in the long run, the IRONMAN Vichy will become a major event.
Ideally placed in the calendar, this race is also launching the race for qualification for the Ironman World
Championships in Hawaii the following year, and thus attract many professionals.
For the age groups, the fact of concluding the summer in a beautiful region and doing a sporting
achievement is enough to motivate.
Vichy, host of the IRONMAN
This year 2015, the Triathlon of Vichy goes under Ironman’s banner to bring the event at the next level. As
the only city in France with Nice to host such an international event in triathlon, Vichy strengthens its dual
purpose as both an athletic city and a home for long distances triathlon champions.
Two races on the menu, the Ironman 70.3 and the Ironman Vichy, both granting qualifications tickets for
the 2016 world championships taking place in Mooloolaba, Australia, and Hawai, USA. In order to make
the weekend even more special, two races, the IronGirl and the Ironkids, will complement the program.
More than 3000 triathletes are expected, half of them from abroad, representing over 45 nationalities. It
is an amazing opportunity to show the charm and the advantages of our lovely city on the Allier’s borders.
A worm welcome to all those high-level athletes and everybody accompanying them!

To enjoy your stay you can explore the many
parks of the city of Vichy and its lake, the swim
place of the IRONMAN.
For nightlife, the casino of Vichy is also a place
of leisure.

Auvergne volcanoes. They go deep 3.000
meters inside the earth, heat up in contact with

The 3.8 km swim in the lac d’Allier will be a spectacular swim, with spectators near you at all times, specially
the australian exit at the end of the first loop.

straddling the 2 departments of Allier and

Heading out on the 4-loop marathon course for IRONMAN Vichy, around the Lac d’Allier , the magnifique
City center and the beautiful parks of Vichy, you will experience a flat and fast course. We promise you a
wonderful run.
Volunteers
They are nearly 1,000 volunteers to support the IRONMAN Vichy throughout the weekend. These
volunteers are the success of the event. They ensure the safety and comfort of the athletes, they even
support them during the race. In the aid station, the Finish Line, registration, on transitions ... volunteers
demonstrate exemplary dedication.
IRONKIDS
These future champions have the chance to live the IRONMAN through a Run & Bike for children aged
from 6 years old to 15 years old. Depending on their age category, IRONKIDS will run between 300m and
800m , and will bike between 1km and 4km.
The finish line is the same as the IRONMAN , enough to leave full of memories for those children who will
be rewarded with a medal of finisher and an IRONKIDS Tee-shirt.
To participate in the party, the Kids simply need a pair of sneakers and a bike.

Iron Girl
Iron Girl is a 5km run only for girls. This is a way to run in family, between friends or colleague. This is a real
friendly event that the Iron girls will live during the IRONMAN.
The Iron Girl is also a charity race. By participating in the race, women are supporting the Grégory Lemarchal
Association which aims to fight against the disease of cystic fibrosis.
For each registration, 2€ are given to the association Gregory Lemarchal.

IRONMAN 70.3
On Saturday, August 29th, the eve of the IRONMAN, IRONMAN 70.3 will take place for the first time
in Vichy. With 1600 athletes, the IRONMAN 70.3 will be the start the great festival of this particular
weekend in the calendar of triathletes.
The race will start at 7am with the same course as the IRONMAN, with the distance of 1km900
swim, 90km bike and 21km of the half marathon. The show promises to be exciting with a panel
of athletes regional, national and international that will ensure the show in the region of Auvergne
and in the streets of Vichy.
See you Saturday morning at 7 am for the first edition of the IRONMAN 70.3 Vichy.
