Controlling Aquarium Lighting
Light in an aquarium is not only there for our benefit when viewing the tank,
but it is also a vital energy source for aquatic plants and live corals. To support
their growth and development an aquarium should receive a minimum of eight
hours of illumination per day– even at times when you are not there to appreciate
the lighting. Normally you should not exceed 12 hours illumination, as this may
increase algae problems within the aquarium.
Most fish kept in tropical freshwater or marine aquariums, originate from areas
where there is not a large seasonal change in day length. Using a timer allows your
tank to have the same regular photoperiod throughout the year, with ‘dawn’ and
‘dusk’ occurring at the same times each day as they would in nature.
Safety instructions
• The timer is for indoor use only
• Do not touch the timer with wet hands
• If the equipment that you are controlling is attached directly to the aquarium,
ensure the cable to the timer forms a drip loop (see diagram) to reduce the
possibility of water transmission along the cable to the electrical socket
• Maximum current rating for any device connected to the timer is 13A at 250VAC
• If in any doubt about the use or installation of the timer, consult an electrician

Regelung von Aquarienbeleuchtung
Die Beleuchtung eines Aquariums sorgt nicht nur für eine bessere Sicht, sondern
ist auch eine wichtige Energiequelle für aquatische Pflanzen und lebende
Korallen. Zur Förderung ihres Wachstums sollte das Aquarium mindestens
acht Stunden pro Tag beleuchtet sein – selbst zu Zeiten, zu denen Sie nicht
anwesend sind. Es ist jedoch normalerweise nicht ratsam, die Beleuchtung
mehr als 12 Stunden eingeschaltet zu lassen, da dies zu einer schnelleren
Algenbildung führen kann.
Sicherheitshinweise
• Der Zeitschalter ist nur für die Verwendung in Innenräumen vorgesehen.
• Den Zeitschalter nicht mit nassen Händen berühren.
• Wenn das über einen Zeitschalter geregelte Gerät direkt am Aquarium
montiert ist, sicherstellen, dass das Kabel des Zeitschalters eine Tropfenschleife
bildet (siehe Diagramm), damit kein Wasser das Kabel entlang kriechen und in
Kontakt mit der Steckdose geraten kann.
• Die maximale Stromstärke für ein an den Zeitschalter angeschlossenes Gerät
ist 13A bei 250V WS.
• Im Falle von Fragen zur Installation oder Verwendung des Zeitschalters sollten
Sie einen Elektriker zu Rate ziehen.

1. S’assurer que la minuterie est débranchée de l’alimentation secteur.
2. Appuyer sur les picots correspondant à la période de temps pendant laquelle
l’appareil commandé par minuterie doit être actif - chaque picot correspond à
un intervalle de temps de 15 minutes.
3. Tourner le cadran jusqu’à ce que le pointeur indique l’heure correcte.
4. Brancher l’appareil sur la minuterie, puis la minuterie sur l’alimentation
secteur.
5. La minuterie peut être arrêtée par intervention manuelle en poussant
l’interrupteur sur le côté sur la position (on).
Contrôle de l’éclairage dans l’aquarium
La lumière dans un aquarium ne sert pas seulement à satisfaire le plaisir des yeux,
c’est aussi une source vitale d’énergie pour les plantes aquatiques et les coraux
vivants. Pour soutenir leur croissance et leur développement, un aquarium doit
recevoir un minimum de 8 heures d’éclairement par jour - même pendant les
périodes où vous n’êtes pas là pour apprécier votre aquarium. Cependant, pour ne
pas augmenter le risque de prolifération d’algues à l’intérieur de l’aquarium, il ne
faut normalement pas dépasser 12 heures d’éclairage par jour.
La plupart des poissons d’aquariums d’eau douce tropicale ou d’eau de mer
proviennent de régions où la longueur du jour varie peu suivant les saisons.
L’utilisation d’une minuterie permet d’obtenir la même photopériode régulière
dans l’aquarium pendant toute l’année, avec l’« aube » et le « crépuscule » se
produisant à la même heure tous les jours, comme dans la nature.
Consignes de sécurité
• La minuterie est strictement réservée à un usage en intérieur.
• Ne pas toucher la minuterie avec des mains mouillées.
• Si le matériel réglé est fixé directement sur l’aquarium, s’assurer que le cordon
depuis la minuterie forme une boucle d’écoulement (voir schéma) pour minimiser
la possibilité de transfert d’eau le long du câble jusqu’à la prise électrique.
• Le courant nominal maximal pour tout dispositif connecté à la minuterie est un
c.a. de 13 A à 250 V.
• En cas de doute concernant l’utilisation ou l’installation de la minuterie,
consulter un électricien agréé.
