La Galerie Bertrand Grimont propose une immersion dans une sorte de cabinet des
curiosités où le profane et le sacré se lient de force, un parcours parmi les méandres
d’un imaginaire à l’esthétique décadente. Le regardeur, par des percées de
mysticisme, par des envolées lyriques, est invité à l’errance dans un monde où la
réalité complexe révèle des parts mystérieuses. Dans une logique post-moderniste les
artistes Thomas Mailaender et Marwane Pallas jouent avec les codes de la peinture et
de la culture classique. Gilles Berquet ainsi que Will Mcbride travaillent le corps de la
femme pour l’un et de l’homme pour l’autre, de manière à le rendre sculptural,
puissant et captivant. Dans l’ombre, le photographe Olivier Metzger, capture des
visions inquiétantes et fascinantes. Ainsi, l’ensemble des images instaure un trouble
en ranimant les mythes et en exploitant les découvertes sur le rêve, pour confronter
l’homme à ses terreurs, ses vices et ses contradictions. Le visiteur se laissera
emporter par un univers d’intensives voluptés. Comme dit si bien Verlaine « est-ce
que le crépuscule d’un beau jour ne vaut pas toutes les aurores!… »

The Bertrand Grimont Galery propounds an immersion in a kind of cabinet of
curiosities where the unholy and the religious are tied together in the winding path
through a decadent imagination. The viewer will wander in a world where a complex
reality unveils mysterious truths, through mystical peaks and lyrical outbursts. The
artists Thomas Mailaender and Marwane Pallas play with painting codes and classical
culture with a post-modernist logic. Gilles Berquet studies the woman’s body as well
as Will Mcbride the man’s body. They work until it becomes a powerful and enthralling
sculpture. In the shadows, the photograph Olivier Metzger captures distressing and
mezmerizing visions, thus creating a confusing set of images recalling mythical scenes
and exploiting what has been discovered about dreams, so as to face man with his
fears, vices and contradictions. The guest will slide away in a realm of sensuous
intensities. Just like Verlaine said, « Isn’t a nice day’s dusk worth every dawns! … »
