In just a short time, Raphaële Frier has published several celebrated novels
(Talents hauts, Rue du monde, among publishers). Her taste for childrens’
literature is informed by her work as a teacher. In her books, Frier tries to evoke
the strong, simple feelings of childhood, and her own children and her students
help to guide her towards those subjects they care about most.
Solange Gautier creates posters and book covers using
photography and collage. She works for publishers (with
Flammarion Jeunesse, Bêtes de guerre) and newspapers such as
Le monde diplomatique and Le Figaro.

GRAND HISTORY
OF THE ARAB WORLD
W ritten by F rançois R eynaert
P reface by M alek C hebel
I llustrations by L aura F anelli
The Book
An illustrated book that tells the story of the Arab world in a simple and
elegant fashion. From the Roman Empire to the Middle Ages, it shows that
East and West aren’t really so far apart. It becomes clear in reading that, in
fact, their roots are shared.
Notes on this Title
• The striking style of François Reynaert, editorialist at L’Obs magazine, and the
impassioned preface by Malek Chebel make this book a veritable event
• In light of recent events on the world stage, children are increasingly curious
about the meanings of words such as Arab, Muslim, Mohammed. This book is a
delightful introduction to these concepts and their history.
