a - catch the beat (original)
i liked the original track in general. contemporary swiss minimal aesthetic with a classic techno feel
and a voice sample. after 5mins, becomes more interesting or catchy. the baseline, bassline and kicks
really gives an olskool feel. i would give 6 over 10 to this track.
i haven't listened such track from agnès before. this track is pure house and that voice over is more
appropiate to this one i guess. i liked this track more and would play more in my sets and radio
programs. those atmospheric ingredients are just coming to escape the track and makes it "above the
average" production and gets 7 from me.
summary: nice ep but not very good as i know that these guys do better stuff.
it is quite static for me. but not bad at all, and guess will work on sales and on the dancefloor too.

minimal, groove, moments of peak-time- (but very fine), very delicate!!!! excellent fxs, etc.
i don’t like the remix very much! a bit boring, flat, slack. i like the sounds and perc detroit, but… it
doesn’t have nothing special.

the drums and bass of side a are a bit too static for me. the whirling sounds are nice, but personally i
would have loved to hear some more of the atmosphere of the beginning come back. the b-side is a
smooth affair and i like it a lot. agnès manages to capture that typical deep house sound, and give his
own twist to it. the vocal works perfectly to give it some sexiness. maybe i will play side b when i'm on
a housey tip.

predictably, great stuff. i think i prefer the agnès remix to the original; i like the original but it's a little bit
static for me. but agnès houses it up to profound effect, from the drum programming to those
aquamarine synths. lovely.

there's nothing particularly fancy about this track, which features geneva's agnès remixing his frequent
collaborator chaton: just a dead simple 909 drum beat, some dubby, aquamarine keys and a gruff
vocal sample saying "catch the beat." (i seem to be in a vocal phase this month.) you can hear echoes
of moodymann or theo parrish, as well as more distant forebears like chez damier, but it never feels
reductive; it simply does what it's supposed to do, which is to sweep up the listener and hold her
amidst the swirl. it's almost an exercise in formalism, but in its simplicity it manages to transcend
categories all the same. philip sherburn

great new release from swiss based sthlm audio! chaton has delivered a dark minimal techno groove
with a deep voice urging you to "catch the beat" - think of it as the european answer to ambivalent's "r
u ok?". things really kick off on the flip though with agnès’ remix which is unashamedly old school and
bloody damn spot on.

der agnès remix catcht hingegen den remute völlig : zwar ist das beat-intro für meinen geschmack
etwas lang geraten, aber was danach folgt ist toller wohlfühl-house deluxe! könnte ewig weiterlaufen...

the original is simply electrifying. so dense and dark, so mysterious... the progression is so slow and
solid when it breaks you start jumping. a+
agnès remix is at the same level. this time reminds me of good old deep house, a bit between new
york 1993 and g-man. this is a hell of a release guys! best release to date for sure.
