Museums and galleries involved in this partnership in PARIS LE MUSEE DU QUAI BRANLY Opened in June 2006, the musée du quai Branly works to bring arts from the civilisations of Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas the recognition they deserve. Wandering the banks of the Seine, at the foot of the Eiffel Tower you’ll spot this impressive Jean Nouveldesigned modern building boasting a living green wall made up of hundreds of plants. Inside meanwhile you’ll find a permanent collection of some 3,500 works, as well as 5,000m² dedicated to temporary exhibitions. It is housed in the former Gare d'Orsay, an impressive Beaux-Arts railway station built between 1898 and 1900. The museum holds mainly French art dating from 1848 to 1915, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, and photography. It is probably best known for its extensive collection of impressionist and post-impressionist masterpieces (the largest in the world) by such painters such as Monet, Manet, Degas, Renoir, Cézanne, Seurat, Sisley, Gauguin and Van Gogh.
