Nous avons l’occasion exceptionnelle d’entendre Antonio Damasio, University of Southern California,
donner une conférence publique (et gratuite) intitulée “Notes on Feeling, Music and the Human Brain”, le
22 octobre 2015 à 16h30.
Cette conférence fait partie du symposium du 10ème anniversaire du BRAMS et aura lieu à l'Université de
Montréal, Amphithéâtre Ernest-Cormier (salle K-500), Pavillon Roger-Gaudry, 2900, boul. ÉdouardMontpetit.
Antonio Damasio a apporté une contribution majeure à la compréhension des processus cérébraux qui
sous-tendent les émotions, les prises de décisions et la prise de conscience. Il est l'auteur de nombreux
articles scientifiques et dans le cadre de ses recherches, il a reçu un financement fédéral continu depuis 30
ans. Il est récipiendaire de nombreux prix, dont le Grawemeyer Award, 2014 ; le prix Honda, 2010 ; le prix
Asturias en sciences et en technologie, 2005 ; et le prix de Signoret, 2004, qu'il partage avec son épouse
Hanna Damasio.
Il a décrit ses découvertes dans plusieurs livres (L’erreur de Descartes, Spinoza avait raison, L’autre moimême et Le sentiment même de soi) traduits et enseignés de par le monde.

Public Lecture by Antonio Damasio
We have the unique opportunity to hear Antonio Damasio, of the University of Southern California, give a
public (and free) conference entitled “Notes on Feeling, Music and the Human Brain”, on October 22,
2015 at 4:30 pm.
This keynote lecture is part of the BRAMS 10th anniversary symposium and will take place at the
Université de Montréal, Amphithéâtre Ernest -Cormier (room K-500), Pavillon Roger-Gaudry, 2900,
boul. Édouard-Montpetit.
Antonio Damasio has made seminal contributions to the understanding of brain processes underlying
emotions, feelings, decision-making and consciousness. He is the author of numerous scientific articles and
his research has received continuous Federal funding for 30 years. He is the recipient of many awards,
including the Grawemeyer Award, 2014; the Honda Prize, 2010; the Asturias Prize in Science and
Technology, 2005; and the Signoret Prize, 2004, which he shared with his wife Hanna Damasio.
He has described his discoveries in several books (Descartes’ Error, The Feeling of What Happens, Looking
for Spinoza and Self Comes to Mind) translated and taught in universities worldwide.
