LES POUPÉE AU CINÉMA Exposition itinérante
Ob Homunculus, Alraune oder Puppe – das Verlangen, einer von Menschenhand
geschaffenen Figur eine eigene Welt zu geben, zieht sich durch die Jahrhunderte
und durch die verschiedensten Kulturen. Der Animationsfilm erlaubt diesem
Wunsch eine faszinierende Umsetzung. Das DEFA-Studio für Trickfilme in
Dresden produzierte zwischen 1955 und 1990 rund 1.500 Animationsfilme. 200
Mitarbeiter und Mitarbeiterinnen arbeiteten mit allen klassischen Animationstechniken. Dem Puppenfilm gehörte dabei die besondere Liebe. Einerseits griff
das DEFA-Studio damit auf die alte mitteleuropäische Tradition des Puppenspiels
zurück, andererseits wurde seine Arbeit von Studios in Osteuropa beeinflusst, die
in der Produktion von Puppenanimationsfilmen stets führend gewesen sind. Die
Ausstellung PUPPEN IM FILM dokumentiert mit einer Auswahl der schönsten
Puppen der DEFA-Geschichte die gestalterischen Fertigkeiten sowie die Vielfalt
der künstlerischen Handschriften. Gemeinsam finden sich die von der Romantik
geprägten Novelle-Figuren, die aus edlem Meißner Porzellan gefertigt sind, die
exotischen und anmutigen Puppen aus Der fallende Schatten, die derb-komische
Kluge Bauerntochter sowie die skurrilen Puppen aus Heinrich der Verhinderte zu
einem Stelldichein. PUPPEN IM FILM lässt deutsche Animationsfilmgeschichte für
Erwachsene und für Kinder lebendig werden.
Be that a homunculus, mandrake or puppet – the desire to give a figure created
by the human hand its own world has stretched across the centuries and can be
found throughout the most diverse cultures. The animated film permits the most
fantastic transformations of such yearnings. The DEFA Studio for Animated Film
in Dresden, Germany, produced 1,500 animated films between 1955 and 1990.
About 200 employees worked with all classic animation techniques. Puppet film
always had a special place in the hearts of the Dresden-based filmmakers. On
the one hand, this permitted the DEFA Studio to fall back on the central
European tradition of puppet theatre stretching back over the centuries. On the
other hand, the studio's work was influenced by the growing closeness of East
Germany to the East European states which had always had a leading role in the
production of puppet animation films. The exhibition PUPPETS IN FILM has
taken a selection of the most beautiful puppets from the history of DEFA in order
to document the diversity of these artistic imprints and designing skills. Marked
by the Era of Romance, the characters in Novella made from fine Dresden
porcelain, the exotic and courageous puppets in The Shadow Falling, the crudely
funny Clever Farmer's Daughter as well as the witty puppets in Heinrich the
Foiled One can be viewed together as a kind of tryst. PUPPETS IN FILM has a
powerful appeal to all generations and transforms the history of German
animated film into a real, living experience.
L’animation - la volonté d´attribuer à un personnage créer par les mains de
l´homme son propre univers n´a cessé de parcourir les siècles et se retrouve à
travers les cultures les plus diversifiées. Lorsqu´il est apparut le cinéma a rendu
possible ce désir des transformations fascinantes. Entre 1955 et 1990, le studio
d´animation DEFA à Dresde, Allemagne, produisit près de 1500 films d´animations. Les prés de 200 créateurs et créatrices des ateliers travaillèrent avec
les techniques classiques du cinéma d´animation. Ils affectionnaient tout
particulièrement le cinéma d´animation de poupées. D´une part, cela permit au
studio DEFA de se raccrocher á la longue tradition d´Europe centrale du théâtre
de marionnettes. D´autre part son travail fut influencé par le rattachement
toujours plus marqué de l´Allemagne de l´Est à l’Europe de l’Est, dont les pays
jouèrent un rôle déterminant dans la production de film d´animation de
poupées. L’ exposition LES POUPÉES AU CINÉMA fait découvrir au public - á
travers un choix de poupées les plus réussies de l´histoire de la fondation -, la
diversité artistique des réalisateurs et leur pouvoir créateur. Et voilà: un rendezvous avec des personnages les plus empreints par le romantisme, tels que ceux
de Novelle en porcelaine fine de Dresde, les poupées exotiques et courageuses
de La chute des ombres, l´amusante et bourru Fille du fermier ainsi que les
marionnettes grotesques de Heinrich l’Empêché. LES POUPÉES AU CINÉMA est
une exposition qui aime de réanimé le passé du film d´animation allemande:
une rencontre exceptionnelle pour tous le monde!
DIE AUSSTELLUNG Zwölf individuell gestaltete Vitrinen mit einer Grundfläche
von jeweils 80 x 80 cm zeigen minimalistisch gestaltete Schauplätze, auf
denen je zwei oder drei Puppenfiguren und einige Requisiten zu sehen sind.
Große Portraitfotos der Figuren, Zitate der Regisseure und Gestalter sowie
Filmplakate, die dekorativ auf Stellwände (1m+50cm+1m breit, 2m hoch)
aufgezogen sind, geben der Präsentation einen inhaltlichen wie auch optischen
Rahmen. Zwei Stellwände informieren über die Geschichte des DEFA-Studios
für Trickfilme und stellen das Deutsche Institut für Animationsfilm vor. Ein
Beleuchtungssystem hebt jede Vitrine einzeln heraus. Im Inneren des Forums
befindet sich ein Aufsteller (80cm+2m+80cm breit, 2m hoch), der einer
aufklappbaren Puppenbühne ähnelt und einen großen Monitor beinhaltet, auf
dem fortlaufend jene Filme zu sehen sind, in denen die ausgestellten
Puppenfiguren agieren. Die gesamte Ausstellungsfläche beträgt ca. 100 bis
150 qm und kann in ihrer Form den jeweiligen räumlichen Gegebenheiten am
Ausstellungsort angepasst werden.
THE EXHIBITION Twelve individually designed display cases each with a
base measuring 80 x 80 cm. Two to three animation puppets and several
props are placed in each case, designed to provide a minimal setting and background. Large photo portraits, quotes from the directors and designers as well
as film posters decoratively hung on moveable partitions (1m+50cm+1m wide,
2m high) provide the presentation with a visual and contextual framing. Two of
the partitions contain information on the history of the DEFA Studio for
Animated Film and present the German Institute for Animated Film (DIAF).
The lighting system is designed to individually highlight each showcase. A
further display (80cm+2m+80cm wide, 2m high) is located inside the forum.
This looks similar to a puppet stage which can be folded out and contains a
large monitor with a continuous loop screening films in which the exhibition
puppets are performing. The complete exhibition requires floor space of
between 100 and 150 square meters and its shape and structure can be
adapted to the space available in each respective exhibition location.
L´EXPOSITION Douze vitrines – chacune diversifiée individuellement –
d´une surface de 80 cm sur 80 cm présentent des scènes miniatures de
poupées (deux à trois par vitrine) accompagnées de quelques pièces de la
collection. Des grands portraits de figurines, des citations de réalisateurs et de
créateurs, ainsi que des affiches de films sont présentées sur des panneaux
d´une dimension de 1m+50cm+1m de largeur sur 2m de hauteur et attribuent
une qualité à la fois descriptive et esthétique à l´exposition. Deux panneaux
apportent des informations sur l´histoire des studios DEFA et font une
présentation de l´Institut Allemand du Film d´Animation. Chaque vitrine
dispose d´un système d´éclairage. Au centre est exposé un paravent
(80cm+2m+80cm de largeur, 2m de hauteur) derrière lequel est installé un
écran projetant les films en continue dans les lesquelles les poupées
s’animent. La surface totale de l´exposition (environ 100 à 150 m2) peut
convenir à tous types de lieux d´exposition.
