In Memoriam : Guy DEVOLDER
Notre ami Guy s'en est allé vers sa dernière demeure
ce lundi 18 septembre 2006. Guy, solo Mirage 5 N° 210,
a été CO de la 2e Esc et pilote d'essais à la SABCA.
Onze vriend Guy is naar zijn laatste verblijfplaats vertrokken op maandag 18 september 2006. Guy, Mirage 5
solo nr 210, is CO van het 2de Smd geweest en testpiloot bij SABCA.
Belgian Air Force Remembrance Day - Be there !
Dear Friends,
Since the Air Force exists as an independent Force in the Belgian Armed Forces (15 0ct 1946) it has been customary to remember all those who
gave their life in active air service for the preservation of our freedom, our national independence and for our moral western values.
A yearly ceremony was organized around the 15th of October, first on the monument of the “Aéroclub Royal de Belgique” and since the year 2000
at the Airmen memorial at the “Cinquantenaire”.
Now that the restructuring of the Belgian Armed Forces tends to flatten out all specific differences between the forces this Remembrance Day
risks to be forgotten.
For that reason the Remembrance Day for the Airmen that gave their life while fulfilling active air duty was organized last year on an informal
way. Although the organization was started rather late, still over 200 people where present to honor their fallen colleagues, husbands, fathers or
friends.
This year the “Airmen Remembrance Day” will be held at our monument at the “Cinquantenaire” on 20 October at 11.00H local time.
You are kindly invited at this ceremony. Flowers from the different sympathizing associations will be deposited at the monument and as last year
the participants will be invited to buy a white rose (€ 2.00) and to deposit it also at the monument.
After the ceremony a reception will be held at the Air Museum.
May we kindly invite you at the ceremony and ask the different associations to pass the word to their members, and to the Base Commanders
to communicate this message to their people so that this year this ceremony will really become a tribute to our fallen friends.

De nieuwe Luchtmacht / La nouvelle Force Aérienne
De MPA zal op dinsdag 17 oktober 2006 in de 15W van Melsbroek ontvangen worden door GenMaj Vl VAN CAELENBERGHE voor een briefing over de evolutie van de structuur van de Luchtmacht binnen
Defensie.
Briefing om 10u30 in de “Ranch” (boven de Mess)
Maaltijd in de Mess om 13u00 (€ 10,00 voor de niet-aktieven)
Aperitief aangeboden door de vereniging
Inschrijving VERPLICHT vóór 09 oktober 2006 mits overschrijving van
€ 10,00 op rekening 979-6361081-20 van Mirage 5 Pilots Association.
La MPA sera accueillie le mardi 17 octobre 2006 au 15W de Melsbroek
par le Gen-Maj Avi VAN CAELENBERGHE pour un briefing sur l'évolution de la structure de la Force Aérienne au sein de la Défense.
Briefing à 10h30 à la salle du “Ranch” (au-dessus du Mess)
Repas au Mess à 13h00 (10,00 € pour les non-actifs)
Apéritif offert par l'association
Inscription obligatoire avant le 09 octobre 2006 par versement de 10,00 €

Open Table à Hoegaarden - Open Table te Hoegaarden
Le prochain Bureau de l'association se tiendra à Hoegaarden le jeudi
26 octobre 2006 à 10h30. A cette occasion, nous vous invitons à nous
rejoindre à 12h00 à la taverne Kouterhof Stoopkenstraat 24, 3320
Hoegaarden.
De volgende vergadering van het Dagelijks Bestuur zal gehouden worden in Hoegaarden op donderdag 26 oktober 2006 om 10u30. Wij
nodigen u hierbij uit om u bij ons te voegen om 12u00 in de taverne
Kouterhof, Stoopkenstraat 24, 3320 Hoegaarden.
Pas d'inscription nécessaire, commande individuelle sur place..
Inschrijven is niet nodig, er wordt individueel besteld ter plaatse.
Delta Meet 2007
Het Dagelijks Bestuur van de MPA is van plan om een Delta Meet te
organiseren in september of oktober 2007. Allen die met Mirage 5 te
maken hadden kunnen daar in een gemoedelijke sfeer samenkomen
om er over “die goede oude tijd” te praten. De plaats en de formule
staan nog niet vast en we zijn op zoek naar originele ideeën voor de
organisatie ervan die, in 2004, meer dan 230 personen bijeen heeft
gebracht. U mag uw ideeën overmaken aan [email protected].
Le Bureau de la MPA a l'intention d'organiser un Delta Meet en septembre ou octobre 2007. Tous les acteurs du Mirage 5 pourront se
retrouver dans une ambiance conviviale pour parler du “bon vieux
temps”. Le lieu et la formule ne sont pas encore déterminés et nous
cherchons des idées originales pour cette organisation qui, en 2004, a
rassemblé plus de 230 personnes. Vous pouvez communiquer vos
idées à [email protected].

De herinneringen van Jean-Marie - Les souvenirs de Jean-Marie
Als eerbetoon aan Jacques CHAPUT heeft Jean-Marie GHYOOT een
herinneringsDVD gemaakt van een 20-tal minuten op basis van super8
films, opgenomen op het ogenblik van de overgang van F-84 naar
Mirage 5, over het leven van het 1ste smaldeel in 1973 en de operaties met C-130 in Afrika.
Geïnteresseerden kunnen deze DVD bestellen bij het MPA secretariaat
mits overschrijving van € 5,00 (voor de kosten) op rekening 9796361081-20 van Mirage 5 Pilots Association.
En hommage à Jacques CHAPUT, Jean-Marie GHYOOT a réalisé un
DVD souvenir de 20 minutes à partir de films super8 pris au moment
du passage du F-84 au Mirage 5, de la vie de la 1ère escadrille en
1973 et des opérations effectuées en Afrique avec les C-130.
Les amateurs peuvent commander ce DVD auprès du secrétariat MPA
contre versement de 5,00 € pour les frais sur le compte 979-636108120 de Mirage 5 Pilots Association.
Inauguration à Spa - Inhuldiging te Spa
Le vendredi 15 septembre 2006, en présence d'une nombreuse
assemblée, Jean-Pol SPARENBERG, président de la MPA, a eu l'honneur d'inaugurer le BA30 devant le club-house de l'aéroclub de Spa.
Op vrijdag 15 september 2006 heeft, in het bijzijn van een grote menigte, Jean-Pol SPARENBERG, voorzitter van de MPA, de eer gehad om
de BA30 in te huldigen voor het clubhuis van de vliegclub van Spa.
Guy ROTHHEUTH et ses amis du club de Spa n'ont pas ménagé leurs
efforts pour mettre en valeur cet avion à côté du RF84 déjà en place
depuis plusieurs années. De nombreux anciens étaient présents.
Guy ROTHHEUTH en zijn vrienden van de vliegclub van Spa hebben
geen moeite gespaard om dit vliegtuig tot zijn recht te doen komen
naast de RF84 die er reeds vele jaren staat. Vele oudgedienden waren
aanwezig.

Life doesn't stop at 45. So I started to fly for TNT in Liège in 2000 as
simple First Officer. In the mean time things have changed and I have
had quite some luck. So I am Chief Pilot on the BAe 146 since the
beginning of this year sharing my time in between flying, office, flight
simulator and at some times a day OFF. Meaning I work harder now
