Parking payments across Paris in the digital era
The P Mobile service operated by PayByPhone
and VINCI Park now allows Parisian motorists
to pay for their hourly parking and residential
or business permits from their smartphone,
mobile device or via the web.
The P Mobile service allows virtual payment for roadside
parking, and has been available in the first four
arrondissements of Paris since July 2014. It has now been
extended to all arrondissements to cover the 150,000 parking
spaces in the city of Paris using three applications: P Mobile
offered by the city of Paris, My VINCI Park, and PayByPhone,
which drives the service. The service can also be used from
paris.fr or paybyphone.fr, and for those without smartphones,
it can be accessed by calling 01 74 18 18 18.
No need to go to the meter, all you have to do is connect remotely and indicate the code for the
arrondissement where you are parked, and the system will automatically detect whether are entitled to a
visitor, residential or business tariff. The service aims to provide an added value solution to complement the
existing solutions for roadside parking payment and is available to all Parisian service users. "With the launch
of this intelligent mobility project for the City of Paris, we are offering an innovative solution to make life
simpler for motorists," explains Sébastien Fraisse, VINCI Park France Managing Director.
"This service effectively meets a demand from Parisians to facilitate parking payments, and we are very
happy to be deploying this solution at the heart of the capital for the benefit of all residents and visitors,"
Philippe Lerouge, Chairman of PayByPhone France tells us.
The PayByPhone solution is also deployed in around twenty other towns around Paris in partnership with
VINCI Park, and in over 50 cities in France. The 100,000 motorists already using the service in suburban Paris
can connect directly to P Mobile from their existing PayByPhone account, without having to take any further
action when using the service in central Paris. Including central Paris, almost 220,000 spaces are now
equipped with this solution in the greater Paris region.
How do I use this new payment system?
Users who wish to pay for their parking directly from their smartphone simply need to download one of the
applications offering the service. They can then create a free account on one of the platforms available for
Android and iOS and follow the instructions given by the application or displayed on the meters.
Simplified parking without time restrictions
Drivers no longer need top-up cards or even paper tickets. This new service offers greater flexibility to
motorists: they can pay remotely and receive a free text or Apple Watch alert 10 minutes before the end of
the initial period warning them that their parking is about to expire. They then have the choice to extend the
parking, or to reduce the additional period in intervals of 15 minutes. They can also view their usage online
or with their smartphone after each order or at the end of the period.
