Our company is working on R&D of innovative solutions for PV photovoltaic energy production. Our objective is to offer a set of tecnologies aimed at energy harvesting that are capable of intergrating with the urban enviroment and do not damage the third landscape. The purpose is to implement small solar and eolic plants directly integrated with standard urban structures and distributed throughout the urban territory. These Technologies are: 1) RAST (Roundabout Solar Tracking) uses the available space in roundabouts, which are already equipped and monitored, to place photovoltaic platforms with a single axis solar tracking system. The energy can be directly consumed by the urban neibhouring structures, or saved within the proposed flywheel storage system. 2) Elder (Eolic streetLight Distributed Energy ): the aim is to couple existing street light poles with vertical axis wind turbines (of the Darreius Savonious type) The idea is to use the existing street light pole and its connection to the electrical grid. Each pole at full windspeed can produce an amount of energy equal to 0.5-1 kwh. This small amount of energy is compensated by the number of available street-light poles. For example a parking lot of 50 poles is equivalent to an eolic power plant of 50 kw. The Elder pole is studied so as to be scenically acceptable and integrated within the urban enviroment. 3)Flywheel: The amount of energy produced by ELDER and RAST (small by a single component but potentially very large considering the whole system ) cannot be directy consumed by the grid system so a storage equipment is needed. The Fly Wheel system could be a very important improvement in the storing thus avoiding the employement of traditional potentially polluting systems such as batteries . The flywheel such as RAST and Elder could be seamlessly integrated within the urban enviroment.
