Let’s start with an easy one: is your passport still valid?
Keep your passport and belongings secured! Your passport is your only valid ID and it is
important you carry it with you at all times. Keep an eye your possessions or leave them
with someone you trust
It’s always better to let friends or family know where you are going and give them your
contact details, insurance details, and your itinerary … wouldn’t want your mum to worry,
would you?
Now, travel insurance. You might be thinking “Ha, what a waste of money”… until it comes
in handy! It can cost less than £10, whereas a medical repatriation could cost £10,000….
Check if it covers all your activities to enjoy a “5 star” festival experience.
The good news is that your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) will cover most
emergency? medical fees in France should you find yourself in hospital. The EHIC is free and
easy to apply for! (www.ehic.com)
Getting to know local laws and customs can really help you have a great time… and keep you
away from trouble. Plus, you get to impress your friends when mingling with locals! Did you
know that it is forbidden to drink alcohol in beautiful Parisian parks? And so is walking
around in some cities in a bikini top? Well, now you do!
Walking on the wild side is quite tempting, but don’t put yourself at risk: any involvement
with drugs is taken very seriously in France and a little too much to drink can have bigger
consequences. Why ruin this awesome trip you’re planning?
A festival is a great place to meet new people, but it’s wise to stick with people you know
and trust.
A solitary trip? Impressive! Keep your personal safety in mind when socialising with new
people and set boundaries from the start.
ATM access may not be easy so make sure you have enough cash and have access to
emergency funds.
Police, fireman, ambulance… do I really need to bother with this right now? YES. Just write
the numbers in your phone or on a piece of paper. You might not remember them on the
spot: 17 for the police, 18 for the fire services and 15 for an ambulance (SAMU). Hint: call
112 for emergency services in any EU country.
