The Hand Press Books file (HPB) includes more than 660,000 records for European
printing of the hand-press period from the Consortium of European Research Libraries
(CERL), whose 48 members represent national and university libraries in 25 countries.
The HPB file is the first and only online union catalog for European hand press books
produced c. 1455 to 1830.
EEBO – Early English Books Online
Early English Books Online (EEBO) contains digitized versions of titles listed in the
following reference sources:
Pollard & Redgrave's A Short-Title Catalogue of Books Printed in England, Scotland, &
Ireland and of English Books Printed Abroad, 1475-1640 ("STC I") and Donald Wing's A
Short-Title Catalogue of Books Printed in England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and British
America, and of English Books Printed in Other Countries, 1641-1700 ("STC II")
EEBO also includes the contents of another microfilm collection, Thomason Tracts,
which contains more than 22,000 broadsides ranging from political speeches to religious
tracts to newspaper stories from the period 1640-60. Altogether, EEBO contains over
125,000 titles, covering a broad range of subjects such as literature, history, music, art,
linguistics, and religion.
English Short Title Catalog
The English Short Title Catalogue contains records for works printed in any language in
England or its dependencies from the beginning of printing through the end of the
eighteenth century, as well as works printed in English anywhere else in the world during
that period. Subject headings appear in records for items published in 1700 or earlier.
Dates of coverage: 1473-1800.

Historical Abstracts is a reference guide to the history of the world from 1450 to the
present. The database offers annotated references to information on topics from the
Renaissance to the present -over half a million entries in all.
Currently over 2,000 journals published throughout the world are covered in the
database, including key historical journals from virtually every major country.
History of Science, Technology, and Medicine
The History of Science, Technology, and Medicine database includes books, book
chapters, and journal articles in the areas of medicine and social science, as well as
science and technology. It is the electronic equivalent of four printed indexes:

Art and Rare Book Sales Catalogs describes art auction and rare book catalogs for sales
from the late sixteenth century to scheduled auctions not yet held. Records include the
dates and places of sales, the auction houses, sellers, institutional holdings, and titles of
