In this half-length pastel portrait of the Comte de Sassenage
(1704-1762), he is dressed in a brown silk jacket over a white linen
shirt with black tie. Across his chest the Count wears the blue silk
sash and insignia of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Spirit,
which he joined in May 1749. This may be a copy of an earlier

the sash and insignia.
