Description du travail
Whether to use a relational database management system,or a NoSQL data store is a
heated debate. You may yourself have observed much controversy and passion when
reading or discussing about this project. But what do developers, who work with databases
day by day, really think? How popular -- or how unpopular -- is NoSQL technology?
Help us find out what’s really going on today, by objectively analyzing open source projects
on GitHub. These are just some of the questions for which we would like to know the answer:



Is there a trend that new projects added to GitHub
are more likely to use a NoSQL data store (rather than a relational datase)?
Is MongoDB really the most popular NoSQL data store,
or are there other data stores that are even more widely used?
Do developers love or hate their work with NoSQL data stores?
And which ones do they love or hate the most?
For this project, you will need to
 do lots of creative scripting and web crawling
to retrieve data from GitHub
 know your SQL and relational databases,
to be able to query your results
 need to learn about NoSQL data stores,
to know what to look out for,
 brush up on basic statistics,
to be able to summarize your findings, and

learn how to use sentiment analysis when analyzing commit records
in order to derive how people feel about their work.
A very basic first approach could be to simply look for the words “love” and “hate”
in projects using NoSQL technology.
This is a joint project between ISIMA and OTH Regensburg, so you will
 have two advisors, one in each location
 cooperate remotely with a student from the other location
 practice your English,
 develop your communication and intercultural skills, and finally,
 present your work in English, during a video conference involving all participants.
All participants will be awarded a certificate signed by both institutions, confirming that they
participated in a joint international project and that they have developed their communication
and intercultural skills.
