Hmong - Informal Northern Thai Group
« Hmong » in Chiang Mai Academic Libraries : A Basic Search for Records in Western Languages Prepared as a complement to the Minutes of Dr. Chia Youyee Vang’s talk on “Hmong Women, Gender, and Power: Post-Refugee Conditions and the Politics of Transnational Belonging” given at the Informal Northern Thai Group 356th Meeting, Alliance Française, Chiang Mai, Thailand January 15, 2013 « Hmong » in Chiang Mai Academic Libraries: A Basi Search Introduction To say nothing about holdings in Thai and other Asian languages, all Chiang Mai academic libraries have more on the Hmong than is collected here, especially in local newspapers, academic journals, books on minorities, and dissertations. For these records, please do queries in their newspapers, journals and dissertations collections whenever it is possible, or ask the librarians on the spot. In the list below, the records are listed alphabetically by title. Titles beginning with articles like A, The, Le, La, Les, etc. will be found at the article itself. I have not tried to harmonize the ways libraries record their holdings. I am not in the position to answer questions about more advanced searches or holdings by the libraries, except for my personal one (LGPL). Louis G.
