Hello and welcome to High Five French. My
name is Emma. Je m’appelle Emma.
Mathilde: Moi, c’est Mathilde.
Emma:
Mathilde is helping me to learn some
French.
Mathilde: What do you want to learn today Emma?
Emma:
Well, we’re in a restaurant and I’m really
hungry, so maybe we could learn to talk
about food.

Emma:
J’ai faim. But doesn’t j’ai mean “I have”?
Mathilde: Oui. It’s like saying “I have hunger”.

I would like to learn how to say I like to eat
something, but I prefer to eat something
else. For example, I like eating chips, but I
prefer eating pasta.
Mathilde: Chips are des frites, like fries in English.
Emma:

Mathilde: ...je préfère...
Emma:
...je préfère...
Mathilde: ...des pâtes.
Emma:
