Improving the Health and Well-being of the Englishspeaking community of Vaudreuil-Soulanges
Data about the population
From 2001 to 2006, the proportion of English-speaking people
living in the territory increased by 34.5 %, which represents the
highest rate of growth in the Montérégie.
Territory of Vaudreuil-Soulanges
The English community now makes up 25% of the population
served by the CSSS de Vaudreuil-Soulanges. This proportion is
higher than the average in the Montérégie.
Our Objectives
To adapt the Clinical Plan to the needs of the English-speaking
community of Vaudreuil-Soulanges by creating a network of
partners within the local services network of community
organisations and other institutions serving the English-speaking
community of Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
As a result of this project, the local network partners will have
better knowledge of the health needs of the English-speaking
community of the territory.
Through the project, the English-speaking community living in
the Vaudreuil-Soulanges territory will be better informed about
the services offered by the partners of the local service network.
Because of this project, the English-speaking community of the
Vaudreuil-Soulanges territory will have greater access to health
and social services.
Through this project, The English community of VaudreuilSoulanges will have better representation on intersectorial,
consultative committees.
Distribution of the English Population
We find English-speaking residents in all 23
municipalities in the territory, 90% of this same
population is concentrated in just 7 of these
municipalities. These are as follows: St-Lazare (7 363),
Vaudreuil-Dorion (5 740), Pincourt (4 698), Hudson
(3 923), N.D. île-Perrot (2 508), île-Perrot (2 125) et
Rigaud (1 340). It should be noted that the Municipality
of Hudson has the highest percentage of Anglophones,
namely 77,2%.

Our Accomplishments
Creation of a Partners’ Committee made up of representantives from the English-speaking community and
organisations which serve this community. This committee is a focal point for exchanges between the
CSSS and the English community.
Participation of the English community on existing consultative committees.
Publication of 10, 000 copies in English of the Guide to Community Resources in Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
CSSS de Vaudreuil-Soulanges
Formation of an internal committee of managers and workers of the CSSS de Vaudreuil-Soulanges. This
committee is to analyse and make recommendations to the CSSS de Vaudreuil-Soulages regarding
services in English.
A study, conducted by the Agence de la santé et des services sociaux de la Montérégie, regarding the
satisfaction of the English-speaking community with services offered by the CSSS de VaudreuilSoulanges.
