I didn’t finish high school …
My husband just left me and I am
pregnant with my second child … I don’t
know what to do …Lisa, 23 years old
Is it for me?
What kind of help?
I am pregnant or
have just had a baby and …
• Support from the 12th week of pregnancy
up until my child is 5 years old.
• I didn’t finish Grade 12, and I have little
or no income.
• Regular follow-ups based on my needs
during this period.
My wife or girlfriend is pregnant
• Information on a variety of subjects:
breastfeeding, child development, local
resources, etc.
• Access to resource persons: nurses,
nutritionists, social workers, doctors, special
educators, and community organizations.
• Coaching to support me in reaching my
goals (going back to school, looking for a
job, etc.).
• The chance to meet other parents with
whom I can share my ups and downs.
What are
the benefits?
For Mom or Dad
• Information about the pregnancy, the baby’s
arrival, and nutrition...
• Support in my role as a mother or father.
• Someone with whom to share my concerns.
• Coaching and support to reach my goals.
• A free food supplement (OLO program: eggs,
milk, orange juice) during my pregnancy.
For baby
• My parents will take care of me, even before
they hold me in their arms...
• My parents will know what to do to help me
in my development...
I have questions about the pregnancy …
I would like to know what I can do to have a
healthy baby …
I want to know more about my child’s
development and how to interact with my
child …
I am finding it hard to get ready for my
baby’s arrival …
I am going through an emotional time...
I would like to talk to someone about it,
be reassured …
I need a break …
I will have everything I need to
start my life on the right foot …
To grow up strong in my family!
This leaflet is an adaptation of two leaflets: Vous êtes de futurs ou de jeunes parents de moins
de 20 ans from the Direction de santé publique de Lanaudière as part of the support program for
young parents (2002) and La famille s’agrandit from the Centre de santé de la Haute-SaintCharles for the program Naître égaux-Grandir en santé (2003). The drawings shown on the first
page were taken from the title page of the document Services intégrés en périnatalité et pour
la petite enfance à l’intention des familles vivant en contexte de vulnérabilité (MSSS, 2005).
