The Messiah by George Frideric Handel, first performed in 1742, is based on scriptural texts
compiled by Charles Jennens. This work is one of the most popular examples of sacred music of
the Christian world until today. In three parts, it presents the Christian salvific history, including
the Old Testament prophecies, the life of Jesus, his birth, his death on the cross and his hopedfor return.
Der Messias von Georg Friedrich Händel, uraufgeführt 1742, beruht auf Bibeltexten in einer
englischsprachigen Zusammenstellung von Charles Jennens. Das Werk gehört bis heute zu den
populärsten Beispielen geistlicher Musik des christlichen Abendlandes. Es umfasst in drei Teilen
die christliche Heilsgeschichte, beginnend mit den alttestamentlichen Prophezeiungen von
Propheten, das Leben Jesu, seine Geburt, seinen Tod am Kreuz und sein erhofftes zweites
Kommen.

d’une collection de textes bibliques en anglais de Charles Jennes. L’œvre est toujours l'un des
plus populaires de la musique sacrée de l'Occident chrétien. En trois parties, il présente l'histoire
du salut chrétienne, y compris les prophéties de l'Ancien Testament, la vie de Jésus, sa
naissance, sa mort sur la croix et son retour espéré.

collezione di testi biblici in inglese di Charles Jennens. L’oratorio è rimasto fino a oggi uno degli
esempi più famosi di musica sacra dell'Occidente cristiano. In tre parti l’oratorio racconta la
storia della salvezza cristiana, incominciando dalle profezie del Vecchio Testamento, alla vita di
Gesù, la sua nascita, la sua morte in croce e il suo sperato ritorno.
