ntensivists, cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, pediatric surgeons, general surgeons, perfusionists,
respiratory therapists, intensive care nurses and all other professionals interested in the care of patients with both
cardiac and respiratory failure are welcome to Paris to the 4th International Course on ECMO and short term
circulatory/respiratory support Thursday June 27th and Friday June 28th 2013.
This year meeting will focus on the latest results of ECMO for both cardiac and respiratory failure.
Practical aspects of managing ECMO including vessel cannulation, transport under ECMO,
anticoagulation and specific ECMO indications (septic shock, pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrest, lung
transplantation) will be discussed by international opinion leaders. A complete update on other short term
circulatory/respiratory support devices will also be provided.
Practical workshops for the management of the ECMO system will be organized for smaller groups of
delegates.
This year meeting will also include a specific program course for nurses.
The official language is English. Main sessions will have audio translation (English/French and French/English).

This cannulation training course will be held Wednesday, June 26th to develop competency in ECMO cannulation.
Structured teaching in groups of 4 will be provided with a live animal model at the Fer à Moulin surgical
school in Paris. Participants will be instructed on all stages of venous and arterial cannulation use (from
set-up and staffing to securing lines).

Paris pour le « 4th International Course on ECMO and short term circulatory/respiratory support » le jeudi 27
et le vendredi 28 juin 2013.
Le Congrès de cette année se concentrera sur les derniers résultats d’ECMO pour les défaillances cardiaques et respiratoires.
Les leaders internationaux seront présents pour discuter des aspects pratiques de la prise en charge de l’ECMO comme
la cannulation des vaisseaux, le transport sous ECMO, l’anticoagulation et les indications spécifiques de l’ECMO (choc
septicémique, embolie pulmonaire, arrêt cardiaque, transplantation pulmonaire).
Une mise à jour complète sur d’autres dispositifs de support Circulatoire/Respiratoire à court terme sera
également fournie. Des ateliers pratiques sur les systèmes d’ECMO seront organisés en petits groupes de participants.
Un programme spécifique pour les infirmières et les paramédicaux sera également organisé cette année.
La langue officielle du congrès est l’anglais. Une Traduction simultanée FR/AN et AN/FR sera proposée pour
les sessions principales.

Ce cours de cannulation aura lieu le mercredi 26 juin 2013 afin de développer vos compétences en Cannulation
d’ECMO. Le cours sera organisé en groupe de 4 participants sur un animal vivant à l’école de chirurgie du Moulin
de Fer. Toutes les étapes de la mise en place d’une cannulation de la veine ou de l’artère (de la mise en place à la
sécurisation de la cannulation) seront enseignées.
