1- Coubertin Foundry in Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuses (approximately 2
hours)

Created in 1963, the Foundry of Coubertin makes part of the four workshops of excellence of the Coubertin Foundation issued of the meeting between Yvonne de Coubertin, humanist of conviction, and
Jean Bernard, artist, stone-cutter and reformer of the French Compagnonnage. The know-how of the
actors of the foundry allied to the advanced technological equipment from which they benefit leads
them to be major actors of restoration worksites but also creation worksites. Their skills are recognized
at both a national and an international level.

• Conservation of American Zinc Sculpture: History of the Use of the Material and
Case Studies of Treatment
Vendôme Column restoration worksite:
The Vendôme column was cast from artillery cannon guns taken to the enemy during the Napoleonic
wars. It was erected at first in 1810 before being destroyed and then rebuilt by the end of the 19th
century. It is supposed to have not undergone any interventions until today. The restoration worksite
(Sponsorship of Ritz) began at the end of 2014, and is supervised by Christophe Bottineau, architecte en
chef des monuments historiques.

Outdoors ornaments of Garnier Opera:
The Garnier Palace, inaugurated in 1875 is an architectural masterpiece. The decorations of its roof and
facades constitute a fascinating testimony of the importance of the work of the artist, who knew how
to adapt himself to imposed materials. This visit will enhance the historic wealth but also the technical
and artistic cleverness which presided the construction site of this building of the Parisian landscape.

Conference dinner (by registration only)
The conference dinner will take place at 8.00PM in the prestigious restaurant of the Musée
d’Orsay, located in the 2nd floor of the museum. This old restaurant of the hotel d’Orsay,
which opened in 1900, is listed as a historic monument. After the visit of the museum at 6.00
PM, the dinner cooked by Chef Yann Landureau will be held at 8.00 PM. For organizational
reasons, please respect the schedule.
