SEDY European project
Sport et Citoyenneté en action SEDY European project A fter a first meeting in Amsterdam, the SEDY (Sport Empowering Disabled Youth) project has started with the inventory phase. In this phase all the partners will collect data in their respective countries. Aim of this inventory phase is to obtain a clear insight into: ➊ the statistics on frequency and type of sport participation for disabled children and ➋ the system of organisation of sports for disabled youth ➌ the (perceived) barriers and facilitators for disabled children for participating in sport and ➍ existing interventions to increase participation. Since the SEDY project aims to increase physical activity of disabled children especially through a better matching of the demand (needs) and the supply (opportunities), detailed knowledge of the situation in each country is essential. Besides collecting relevant data from the literature in-depth, semi-structured interviews with professionals will be conducted in all partner countries. By doing so, we can create a European knowledge base for adapted physical activities (APA). Along with the data collection the partners will also describe one to three APA best practices from their home country. This will be the foun- Prof. dr. M. The InHolland University of Applied Science is the activity coordinator for this phase. Together with the Amsterdam University of Applied Science (AUAS) as overall coordinator they will collect the data and create overview. End of September the project members will meet again in Lithuania, where the first results of the project will be presented to each other.
