Organisations participantes Sunday the 9th of August 2015, join “Team France” for the next City2Surf! Why: As you know, over the next 4 years, the entire world will commemorate WWI. This commemoration holds particular significance in Australia, as Australians actively participated in combat within the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC). The idea is to make the most of the City2Surf event, which is broadcast extensively, to show that the French community - both francophones and franchophiles in Sydney, are grateful to all the Australian soldiers who fought in France to re-establish peace. Beyond the need that we have today to remember and appreciate these soldiers, each one of us most certainly has other reasons to thank Australia, the country that has welcomed us and where some of us have become citizens. We propose to all run with a “Thank you Australia” sticker provided by the Alliance Française de Sydney (more info: [email protected]). If you are already planning to do the City2Surf with another team, this is not a problem. When the time comes, you will be able to get a hold of a sticker if you wish by sending an email to enquiries@ afsydney.com.au. Fundraising: The City to Surf also allows for fundraising. For those who wish to participate, we propose to raise money for the Homes For Heroes, RSL LIFE CARE, Homes for vets in need which is a program to help Australian veterans returning from recent conflicts. When you enrol on the website for the City2Surf, you will be able to donate to the association of your choice. You can also forward this link to all your contacts. How: For those who wish to enrol in the City2Surf with “Team France” the procedure is simple. See the “How To” guide below. The name of the team is “Team France”. The password to receive a ticket for $65 is “thankyouaustralia”. Also keep Saturday the 8th of August free in your diaries, as we will bring the team together in the presence of H.E. Christophe Lecourtier, Ambassador of France to Australia, taking place in Bondi to allow the press to cover our initiative.
