POSTING 15-44 ACCOUNTANT (Temporary full-time position) In the following text, the masculine form applies to women as well as to men. Bishop's University is seeking a qualified and dedicated individual to fill a temporary full-time position as an Accountant in the Financial Services Department. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Services, the incumbent will be responsible for the accounting cycle of all funds of the University for the internal and external financial statements. The Accountant is also responsible for all government reporting including reports required by the various research agencies. This position has a work week of 32.5 hours from Monday to Friday and the working period will be from July 27, 2015 to July 25, 2016. Nature of duties and responsibilities Prepare the monthly reports for the operating fund Participate in the coordination of the year-end activities for the preparation of the external financial statements including the audit for the three funds Prepare account analysis and reconciliations with required supporting evidence for year-end purposes for the three funds (operating fund, restricted funds and capital fund) Responsible for the financial reporting of the capital projects and the restricted funds Review current accounting processes, make recommendations and implement changes to streamline operations. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget Responsible for the preparation of financial reports for governments including reports for research agencies Coordinate and supervise the work of student members working at the Business Office Work with other departments to ensure that all government reporting is consistent and accurate with the University’s records and provide support where required Assist in the implementation of internal controls, support the Manager of Financial Services in special projects including the evolution of the financial system Provide support for other accounting and financial tasks and recommendations as required. Qualifications and Requirements University degree in Business / Commerce with accounting specialization Minimum of 5 years’ experience in general accounting and the preparation of financial statements. Very good knowledge of computerized General Ledger systems, report writer and Microsoft Excel Very good knowledge of external audit processes Excellent ability to work in a team and under pressure Ability to adapt to changes in work environments Must be bilingual (English and French) written and spoken Classification: *Class 14 – $25.87 – $33.76 per hour *Preliminary Evaluation. Se rapportant au Gestionnaire du Service des Finances, le titulaire sera responsable du cycle comptable pour les trois fonds de l’Université pour des états financiers internes et externes. Le comptable sera également responsable des rapports gouvernementaux, en incluant les rapports demandés par les diverses agences de recherche. La semaine de travail de ce poste est de 32.5 heures, du lundi au vendredi. La période de travail de ce poste sera du 27 juillet 2015 au 25 juillet 2016. Nature des tâches Préparer les rapports financiers du fond de fonctionnement; Participer à la coordination des activités de fin d’année pour la préparation des états financiers externes et de l’audit pour les trois fonds; Préparer des analyses de comptes et des réconciliations avec les pièces justificatives appropriées pour la fin d’année pour les trois fonds (fonds de fonctionnement, fond avec restrictions et fond d’immobilisation); Responsable des rapports financiers des projets de d’immobilisations et des fonds avec restrictions; Réviser les processus comptables actuels, faire des recommandations et l’implantation des changements requis pour améliorer les opérations; Aider à la préparation du budget annuel; Responsable de la préparation des rapports financiers pour les gouvernements en incluant les rapports pour les agences de recherche; Coordonner et superviser le travail des étudiants travaillant au service des finances; Travailler avec les autres départements pour s’assurer que les rapports gouvernementaux sont fidèles et exacts avec les livres comptables de l’Université et leur fournir du support lorsque requis; Assister dans l’implantation de contrôles internes, supporter le Manager du Service des Finances pour des projets spéciaux incluant l’évolution du système financier; Effectuer toutes autres tâches comptables et financières connexes et recommandations au besoin. Qualifications et exigences Diplôme universitaire en administration des affaires avec spécialisation en comptabilité; Un minimum de 5 ans d’expérience en comptabilité et dans la préparation des états financiers Très bonne connaissance de systèmes financiers informatisés, de développement de rapports automatisés et de Microsoft Excel Très bonne connaissance des procédures d’audit externe Excellente habileté pour travailler en équipe et sous pression Habileté pour s’adapter aux changements dans le milieu de travail Bilingue français/anglais parlé et écrit; Classification: *Classe 14 25.87 – 33.76 l'heure (APBU – poste syndiqué) *Preliminary Evaluation.
