There is no constraint about the location of the software within the computer.
How to Install Dtm-Vic (version 4.3) and the set of examples ( August 10th, 2009)
---- 0) To install this new academic version of the software DtmVic (delivered as it is, without
warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied) you have to :
---- 1) Copy the zip-file “DtmVic_software.zip” in a directory (any location, any name), and the
other zip-file “DtmVic_examples.zip” in the same or in another directory of your choice.
---- 2) Unzip the zip-files.
As a check:
You must obtain directly, from “DtmVic_software.zip”, in the first chosen directory (folder)
the file “DtmVic_43.exe”, and in a sub-directory named “auxil” the following files: “Doc_1”,
“Doc_2”, ”Doc_3”, “Doc_4”, “dtmlog.txt", "notice_eng.pad", “ FileInfo”, “Aboutdtm”.
Important: The main executable “DtmVic_43.exe” and the folder “auxil” must imperatively
remain in the same folder. We suggest naming that folder DtmVic, but this is not mandatory.
In the second directory containing the unzipped “DtmVic_examples.zip”:
The examples sub directory: “Dtm-Examples”, and the four files: “Tutorial_A.pdf”,
“Tutorial_B.pdf”, “Tutorial_C.pdf”, “Tutorial_D.pdf”.
Warning: Select the proper option to unzip: the directory “Examples” and its organization into 5
subdirectories should be preserved.
If you wish, you can obtain an alias of DtmVic_43.exe and drag its icon onto your most usual
workspace.
---- 3) To begin with, click on DtmVic_43.exe icon.
– Select "Tutorial_A”
– (Subtitle: “Introduction to DtmVic: Five elementary examples to discover DtmVic”).
Read the introduction and peruse the instructions relating to the examples. You can find the same
information in the document entitled “Tutorial_A.pdf”. It is advised to print this introductory
Tutorial.
- Select "Tutorial_D (Data Importation)". This Tutorial allows you to import numerical and
textual data into DtmVic. You can find the same information in the document entitled
Tutorial_D.pdf.
---- 4) The tutorials B and C are indispensable to master DtmVic and appreciate some of its
innovative aspects. As a complement to the tutorials, the "Help about parameters" in the main
menu of DtmVic gives some short and terse definitions of the parameters.
Despite the absence of “hot line”, the authors will do their best to help the users to overcome some
of the difficulties and problems that may arise in using DtmVic. Evidently, critics and comments
are needed and welcome.

Installation (sommaire) de DtmVic (version 4.3 de Dtm) et des exemples. (10 août 2009)
0) Pour installer la version actuelle du logiciel DtmVic, (livré tel qu'il est, sans garantie ni aide en
ligne d'aucune sorte), il faut :
1) Copier les deux fichiers zip file “DtmVic_software.zip” et “ DtmVic_examples.zip” dans un
dossier, ou dans deux dossiers distincts (nom et emplacement des dossiers indifférents)
2) "dezipper" les deux fichiers zip.
Vérification : Vous devez obtenir dans un des dossiers (nommé, par exemple,
« DtmVic ») l’exécutable “DtmVic_43.exe”, et un sous-dossier «auxil» contenant les
fichiers: “Doc_1”, “Doc_2”, ”Doc_3”, “Doc_4”, “dtmlog.txt", "notice_eng.pad", “
FileInfo”, “Aboutdtm”.
“DtmVic_4.3.exe” et le sous-dossier “auxil” doivent impérativement être dans le même
dossier.
Dans le second dossier (ce dossier peut être baptisé, par exemple, « DtmVic-exemples »
on obtiendra le dossier “DtmVic-Examples” et les quatre fichiers “Tutorial_A.pdf”,
“Tutorial_B.pdf”, “Tutorial_C.pdf”, “Tutorial_D.pdf”. (Attention, le dossier "DtmVicExamples" doit contenir 5 sous-dossiers, eux mêmes divisés en sous-dossiers. Eviter les
options de décompression qui détruiraient cette structure en sous dossiers ).
Vous pouvez créer un alias de DtmVic_43.exe en faisant glisser l'icône sur votre bureau ou ailleurs.
3) Pour une introduction, cliquez sur DtmVic_43.exe.
Cliquer sur "Tutorial_A [version française en préparation] (An Introduction to DtmVic: Five
examples to discover DtmVic)", et laissez-vous guider.
Vous pouvez retrouver ces exemples directement dans le document Tutorial_A.pdf.
Il est fortement conseillé d'imprimer ce document pour faciliter les manipulations qu'il demande.
Autre Tutorial fondamental: le Tutorial D, qui permet les importations de données dans DtmVic.
Les tutoriaux B et C abordent les aspects innovants de DtmVic.
Les auteurs feront tout leur possible pour aider les utilisateurs en difficulté.
Les critiques ou les mentions de bugs (par mail comportant " DtmVic " dans le titre) sont plus que
bienvenus.... Merci d’avance.
