Winter has arrived!
L’hiver est arrivé !
For some this brings excitement and joy and for
others the thought of winter driving causes white
knuckles.
Pour certains, c’est la joie et pour d’autres juste la
pensée de conduire l’hiver les rends nerveux.
But here is some good news. As of January 1 all
Ontario insurers must offer a discount if you have
snow tires on your vehicle. Some companies already
offer the “winter tire discount” but if you’re not sure
call your agent to find out. You might just save
yourself a few bucks.
J’ai une bonne nouvelle. À compter du 1er janvier,
tous les assureurs de l'Ontario doivent offrir un
rabais si vous avez des pneus d'hiver sur votre
véhicule. Certaines entreprises offrent déjà le
« rabais pour les pneus d’hiver », mais si vous n'êtes
pas sûr, appelez votre agent. Vous pourriez peutêtre épargner un peu d'argent.
To be sure you have the proper snow tires check
that your tires display the pictograph of a peaked
mountain with a snowflake (also referred to as
the “Alpine” symbol) on the sidewall. Picture below
for your information.
Pour vous assurer d’avoir les pneus d'hiver
appropriés, vérifier que vos pneus ont un
pictogramme d’une montagne et d’un flocon de
neige (aussi appelé le symbole “Alpin”) sur leurs
flancs. Voir la photo ci-dessous.
This symbol identifies that the tires meet the specific
snow traction performance requirements set out by
Transport Canada.
Ce symbole indique que les pneus répondent aux
exigences de performance de traction dans la neige,
établies par Transport Canada.
But most of all, let’s all remember to drive safe and
according to road conditions.
Mais surtout, souvenons-nous de conduire en toute
sécurité et selon les conditions routières.
On another note, a big THANK YOU to all who signed
the petition to bring back bus service. Ontario
Northland just announced a new route between
Sudbury and Ottawa, three times a week. It’s a step
in the right direction, thanks to your efforts!
Sur une autre note, un GROS MERCI à tous ceux et
celles qui ont signé la pétition pour ramener le
service d’autobus. L’Ontario Northland vient
d’annoncer une nouvelle route entre Sudbury et
Ottawa, trois fois par semaine. C’est un pas dans la
bonne direction, grâce à vos efforts !
