The 2016 Biennale will be the largest event in the international art calendar next September. Henri Loyrette – President of the Biennale and of the Biennale Committee (comprised of five members from the Syndicat National des Antiquaires council office and nine experts) – and Dominique Chevalier – President of the SNA – are pleased to announce the first list of participants of the 2016 Biennale, which will take place at the Grand Palais September 10-­‐18. A total of 113 galleries from 12 countries confirmed their participation. – which aims to ensure the protection and promotion of the antiques business – appoints a committee comprised of French and foreign experts whose mission is to carefully monitor each object presented by the Biennale’s exhibitors. The Biennale’s admission committee, bringing together dealers, restorers, art historians and independent experts, is among the world’s most rigorous vetting institutions. The examining process will take place on September 7 & 8 to assess the entirety of works and objects, presented prior to the Biennale’s opening to the public. -­‐ -­‐ -­‐ The talented set designer Nathalie Crinière was tapped to create the scenography of the 2016 edition. The aim is "to take measure of this wonderful place and grasp it in its gigantic complexity before entering the heart of the matter (...) and discover the wonders that each gallery contains (...) The Biennale des Antiquaires is a whole, a group of exhibitors united by the love of art and beauty. The perfect balance of the Grand Palais dome with our design for the central atrium summarizes our approach. The atrium allows visitors to orient themselves around the space, to understand that the Biennale is a grouping where each part find its own singularity and to easily guide visitors to the galleries of their choice.
