closed on Sundays and Mondays, although
an increasing number are now opening on
these days too.

banks in France are La Poste (which is
also the post office), le Crédit Agricole, la
Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP
Paribas)…

directions identify
which is which.

The main holidays in France are in the
summer. Everything shuts down in August:
factories, shops, offices. Even Paris can
seem very quiet in August. There are
several public holidays throughout the
year, mostly saints’ days, which can fall on
any day of the week.
