the silicon valley pitch model
THE SILICON VALLEY PITCH MODEL This template is a product of Serenpedia San Francisco Lab. Our goal is to help people create an awesome pitch for their startup or project. As we are based in San Francisco, we have had the opportunity to see many pitches and to learn how to make a compelling one. Thus, we tried to gather some of this knowledge in one model: The SVP Model. To use this template, you need to know that ideally your pitch could be divided in 3 stages: description of your Business Value, explanation of your Competitive Advantage and presentation of your Market Prediction. It seems relevant to present those stages in this order, but the objective is to tell a flowing story, so feel free to modify this order. By the way, in blue, we wrote the typical questions you should answer during each stage of your presentation. Furthermore, to strengthen the efficiency of your presentation, those stages can be developed through one of the following approaches: showing the singularity of your Team, proving the relevancy of your Technology, sharing the power of your Vision. Bill Reichert, Managing Director of Garage Venture, has identified these 3 approaches as highly efficient for persuading an audience, getting its "love". To help you choose an approach, define one stage where what you say feels the most powerful. Knowing that each approach has its own strongest stage, we colored the borders in red. So your most powerful stage tells you which approach to consider. We think it is better to focus on only one point of view and to not mix them. But every pitch is unique. So once again, if you can tell a better story by mixing the points of view, then do it. This model is just a tool. To conclude, we are not pretending that this model is representative of the majority of the Silicon Valley's pitches. We are just proposing a way to build one, which could fit with the requirements expected in the Silicon Valley area. Anyway, the second page is an example to illustrate the approaches; then it's up to you to fill the third page by answering the blue questions, or the fourth one if you prefer to follow your own rules. We hope this template will help you to tell a great story!
