As we come to the conclusion of this historic conference, to mark the
125th Birth Anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, we thank the
eminent leaders present here, for accepting our invitation, their
participation in the conference and their meaningful contribution in its
deliberations.
In particular we thank former President of Afganistan His Excellency
Mr. Hamid Karzai, former President of Nigeria His Excellency
Mr. Obasanjo, former President of Ghana His Excellency Mr. John
Kufour, Her Majesty Queen Mother of Bhutan, former Prime Ministers
of Nepal Shri Madhav K. Nepal and Shri Sher Bahadur Deuba, Leader of
Arab League Mr. Amre Moussa and the renowned freedom fighter from
South Africa Mr. Ahmed Kathrada for being with us.
We acknowledge with appreciation the representative leadership
delegations of Africa National Congress, Communist Party of China,
United Russia, Awami League of Bangladesh, Nepali Congress, UML of
Nepal, Communist Party of Vietnam, UMNO of Malaysia, Palestine
Liberation Organisation and PDIP of Indonesia.
We also thank Mr. Luis Ayala, Secretary General of Socialist
International for endorsing this initiative.
I also take this opportunity to thank the two paper presenters Prof. Aditya
Mukherjee and Shri Shyam Saran for the scholarly work they
contributed.
We recognize with gratitude the immense contribution made by the
thinkers, philosophers and representatives of civil society organizations
in the conference.
We also thank all other participants who attended the conference.
The Congress functionaries and workers supported the effort of the
Preparatory Committee and worked hard to make this conference a
success.
We acknowledge the good work done by the NSUI, Indian Youth
Congress, Mahila Congress and Seva Dal.
The New Delhi Conference has reaffirmed our shared commitment to the
values and vision of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, one of the greatest leaders
of India and the world. The declaration adopted at this conference and its
message will resonate throughout the world.
