Chèr(e) membre du CCAHT:
C'est avec un profond regret que je vous annonce que le conseil d'administration a accepté
la démission d'Al Johnson. Al a servi de façon continue à titre de registraire du CRBOH
durant 17 ans, et même auparavant, il a servi en tant que directeur et président. Al a été
activement impliqué dans la gestion et l'administration du CCAHT pour la quasi-totalité des
27 années de son histoire. En tant que tel, il a été la «mémoire institutionnelle» pour les
conseils d'administration successifs, en fournissant de sages et judicieux conseils et en y
apportant une formidable énergie. Il a joué un rôle important dans l'ensemble de nos
principales activités - en terminant avec sa performance la plus impressionnante à l'AIHCE
2013 de Montréal. Au nom du CCAHT, Al a initié et suivi trois tables rondes, organisé
l'assemblée générale annuelle et un kiosque d'information à l'Expo, et enfin, presque à lui
seul, il a organisé une fabuleuse réception canadienne, avec sept commanditaire et trois
organismes de soutien. L'événement a été un énorme succès, et ceci dans une très large
mesure en raison de son dévouement. Le CRBOH doit à Al une fière chandelle et une
grande gratitude pour ses incroyables contributions au CRBOH et en général à la profession
de l'hygiène industrielle au Canada.
Le travail de Al comme registraire a été couronné de succès grâce au support quotidien pour
l'administration du CCAHT par Virginie (Ginger) Johnson, agissant comme contractuelle
administrative. Al et Ginger ont veillés à ce que CCAHT fonctionne efficacement et
professionnellement! Le Conseil tient à remercier Ginger pour tout son travail et ses
nombreuses contributions importantes.
Je vous prie de vous joindre à moi pour remercier Al et Ginger et leur exprimer nos meilleurs
vœux pour leurs projets futurs. Ils vont nous manquer! Nous reconnaîtrons officiellement
leurs contributions à notre AGA de 2014.
En conséquence, nous nous devons de faire plusieurs annonces importantes:
1. Le Bureau d'affaires du CCAHT déménagera et ce à partir du 30 novembre, 2013. La
nouvelle adresse temporaire est le: 155 Tycos Drive, Toronto, ON M6B 1W6.

2. Le CCAHT est à la recherche d'un nouveau Registraire. Il s'agit d'un poste bénévole,
nommé par le conseil d'administration. Le registraire doit être un ROH ou ROHT en règle,
et qui a été membre pendant au moins les trois dernières années.

3. Jusqu'à ce qu'un nouveau registraire soit nommé, le Dr Andrea Sass-Kortsak, notre viceprésidente, a accepté d'agir en tant que registraire intérimaire à compter du 1er
Décembre 2013. Andrea était le greffier lors de l'inauguration du CRBOH et a déjà
occupé le poste pendant 6 ans. Nous nous attendons à une transition en douceur.
4. Nous sommes à la recherche de soutien administratif (payant). Nous avons distribué un
appel d'offres à plusieurs sociétés de gestion.
5. Nous espérons avoir un nouveau registraire et un bureau d'affaires et / soutien à la
gestion administrative, le tout en place au début de la nouvelle année.
Quelques autres faits saillants à ce jour:

Le conseil d'administration s'est réuni à Vancouver les 18 et 19 octobre 2013. Les
discussions ont porté sur le changement de registraire et du soutien administratif.

Afin de réduire les coûts, le CRBOH ne participera pas officiellement en 2014 à l'AIHce,
mais nous parrainerons quand même une table ronde et quelques membres seront
présents (à leurs frais) pour représenter le CCAHT. Merci à Marshall Denhoff, ROH qui a
élaboré la proposition et a rassemblé les conférenciers et les sujets.

Félicitations aux nouveaux ROH / ROHT qui ont réussi avec succès nos examens en

La date limite de demande pour l'examen 2014 est le 1er février 2014. Les examens
écrits auront lieu le samedi 29 Mars 2014.

Nous allons bientôt déterminer la date et le lieu de l'assemblée générale annuelle
2014. Le CCAHT vous tiendra au courant.
En terminant, je trouve que la meilleure façon d'augmenter notre membership est en tentant
de convaincre un-à un les candidats potentiels. Je vous demande d'essayer de le faire.

Dear CRBOH Member:
It is with deep regret that I announce that the Board of Directors has accepted Al Johnson's
resignation. Al has served as the Registrar for CRBOH for an unprecedented 17 years, and
even before this, he served as an elected Director and President. Al has been actively
involved in the management and administration of CRBOH for almost its entire 27 year
history. As such, he has been the 'institutional memory' for successive Boards of Directors,
providing sound and wise advice and tremendous energy. He has been instrumental in the
presentation of all of our major activities - perhaps culminating in our most impressive
showing at the 2013 Montreal AIHce. On behalf of CRBOH, Al initiated and monitored 3
Round Tables, organized the AGM and a well- attended information booth at the Expo, and
finally, almost single handedly, organized a fabulous Canadian reception, with seven
sponsors and three supporting organizations. The event was a huge success, in very large
measure because of Al's enthusiastic dedication. CRBOH owes Al a tremendous debt of
gratitude for his incredible contributions to CRBOH and the occupational hygiene profession
in Canada.
Al has managed the day to day activities and administration of the CRBOH, very ably
supported by Virginia (Ginger) Johnson, on an administrative contract. They have ensured
that CRBOH has operated efficiently, effectively and professionally! The Board would like to
thank Ginger for all her hard work and her many important contributions.

Please join me in thanking Al and Ginger and expressing our very best wishes for their future
endeavours. They will be missed! We will formally recognize their contributions at our 2014
AGM.
As a consequence, there are several important announcements:
1. The CRBOH Business Office will be moving, effective November 30, 2013. The
temporary new address is: 155 Tycos Drive, Toronto, ON M6B 1W6.
The email address remains unchanged at [email protected]
2. We are initiating a search for a new Registrar. This is a volunteer position, appointed by
the Board of Directors. The Registrar must be an ROH or ROHT, in good standing, who
has been a member for at least the past three years.
3. Until a new Registrar is appointed, Dr. Andrea Sass-Kortsak, our Vice-President, has
agreed to act as Interim Registrar effective December 1, 2013. Andrea was the inaugural
Registrar and held the post for 6 years. We look forward to a smooth transition.
4. We are seeking administrative support (paid). We have distributed an RFP to several
management firms, and others. The RFP and these announcements can be found on our
website.
5. We hope to have a new Registrar, Business Office and administrative/management
support all in place early in the new year.
Some other highlights to date:

The Board of Directors met in Vancouver on October 18 & 19, 2013. Discussion took
place on the transition of the Registrar and Administrative support.

In order to reduce costs, the CRBOH will not officially participate in the 2014 AIHce,
but we are sponsoring a round table and a few members will be present (at their own
cost) to represent the CRBOH. Thank you to Marshall Denhoff, ROH who developed
the proposal and pulled together speakers and topics.

We are working towards updating and improving our website. This should be in place
in 2014.

The application deadline for the 2014 ROH and ROHT exams is February 1st, 2014.
The written exams will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at locations to be
determined.

We will soon determine the date and location of the 2014 CRBOH AGM and will keep
you posted.
I found the best way to improve our membership is to have a one-on-one talk with potential
members. Please do so!
