Meet Mr. Nubés, a strange and surprising character if there ever was one. He’shalf mad,very
cranky with maybea hint of the phenomenal.Out of his pile of junk, which he calls his“home
on wheels”, materializes a machine that makes clouds…it’s in fact a cotton candy machine.
Mr. Nubés, slightly mad, imagines himself a demi-god, a collector of clouds and a sculpter of
steam. Like a furious orchestra conductor, heevokes storms, harvests vapor from the heavens
and as if by magic makes them appear for real before your very eyes. Is he delirous or isour
hero possessed of extraordinary abilities; a kind of Alchemist-Magician? This is a story
that’s drôle, touching, full of emotion, with references to Quasimodo,Fellini and cirque à
l’ancienne.
For several years Kevin Brooking has been experimenting with spun sugar to find images and
play, becoming a self styled “Architect of Sugar”. With valuable coaching from gifted
directors Micheline Vandepeol,Louis Spania, et Carina Bonan the show has found it’s
form and distinctive color.
The performance is created for open air (but out of the wind!) and is also available for
cabarets, stage and romantic courtyards.

Before graduating from Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris, American born Kevin Brooking worked as a circus
clown in Canada, Mexico, USA England and at Germany's Circus Krone. Kevin has trained pigs, swallowed
swords, and his talented tongue was featured on BBC television. He is a fouding member of circus - theater
company Mummeranddada (England). In Paris he studied at Ecole Jacques Lecoq and was a prize winner at
the 1985 Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain. He toured worldwide with his clown show “Inside Out (The
Art of Accidents)” for over 10 years all over the world. In 1989 he formed Zirk Theatre, an non-profit circus
theatre unlimited company. His clown workshop "The Art of Accidents" and “Clowning for Dummies” has been
challenging students in universites and circus scools in North America and Europe. He is a founding member
of Clowns Without Borders/Belgium which is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary.
Zirk Théâtre has been active in the world of Street Theatre, Circus and Clowning in Europe for more than 15
years. From the circus to the stage and from the street back to the circus Zirk Theatre has been touring to over
14 countries promoting it’s special brand of visual humor. Focusing on the physical and the visual in regards
to performance they are searching for simplicity as well as universality. The military, working class heroes
(sofa movers), street photographers, and opera, have been explored using visual and improvisational styles.
Bringing the performance to the people is another theme in the companies work. We are interested in new
performing spaces, using theatre as a means towards interaction whether in the street, a market, a refugee
camp or the living room converted into a concert hall. Objects and object manipulation is also part of the
dynamic of our work and the piece Homus Plasticus celebrates the contents of a hardware store as a primitive
landscape. Music is vital to our work as well. We all play many instruments and music is at the root of many
of our pieces.
