Compostela Group of Universities XIX General Assembly Internationalising Students' Academic Curricula through Global Mobility Université de Nantes (France) 19-21 September 2013 CROSS-BORDER MOBILITY ACADEMIC ORGANISATION WELCOME INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ?’ – INWARD MOBILITY: HOW TO by Caroline Sezestre, Association Chercheurs Étrangers à Nantes Caroline Sezestre, from the Association Chercheurs Étrangers à Nantes, will present in collaboration of Patricia Torres-Gabillard, from the Université de Nantes, the most relevant issues that the host universities need to take into account from an academic point of view to successfully welcome incoming students and researchers: students needs vs university requirements. The session will hightlight not only what has already been done in Europe in relation to the Bologna Process but also what is being done (or should be done) for non-European mobility. Speaking points Explanation of the origin of the project in Nantes to provide for the incoming researchers, what was at stake, how consensus in necessary in an ambitious international project such as Maison des Chercheurs Etrangers. Look back at the evolution and how the organisation has shaped up to-dates; facts and figures; typology of foreign researcher and type of founding and its impact. How the organisation has become an expert in mobility questions and the importance of a tailor made welcome, advice and follow up; the drawback of being a one stop bureau and contact office for researchers, local authorities and labs. She has been working closely with the local authorities, immigration services at a local and national level, but also with research structures in Nantes towards the harmonisation of incoming procedures and facilitating the processes of settling in Nantes according the needs and the career of researchers. Caroline was born in France and graduated in 1999 with a degree in English and German before doing a PGCE in Cardiff. She taught in England and Wales and graduated with a master's degree in European sciences from Exeter University in 2006. Before working for the organisation, she worked for the communication department of the Université de Nantes and the European and international affairs of Greater Nantes.
