« Ce Saint-Emilion affiche un boisé fin et de belle intensité dans un style
classique. On retrouve en bouche cette palette aromatique, avec une trame
tannique fine, mais présente jusqu’en finale. L’ensemble est harmonieux et
élégant, la longueur est cependant sur les tanins.»

«The 1989, which I had been told was close in quality to the 1990, comes across as a
smaller - scaled wine. The color is moderately dark, opaque ruby/purple, and the nose
offers up Grenache-like aromas of peanut butter and black-cherries. This spicy, tannic,
medium to full-bodied 1989 is promising, but it does not possess the profound, unreal
concentration and stature of the 1990. The 1989 requires 2-3 additional years of bottle
age; it will last as the 1990, but it will never achieve the greatness of that vintage. »

«While the 1989 has a promising, understated bouquet of black-cherry
fruit, minerals, and spicy oak, it is surprisingly restrained for the vintage.
Nevertheless, the ruby / purple color, the velvety, extracted, almost sweet,
alcoholic flavors, and good tannins in the finish are clearly reminiscent of a
vintage where tremendous ripeness was attained. It is not blockbuster, but rather
an extremely well-balanced, concentrated, impressive effort that still has some
baby fat to shed. Anticipated maturity : 1993 - 2007. »

« La robe est grenat dense avec un début d’évolution. Assez complexe, le nez est évolué
dans les tonalités figue cuite, pruneau mûr, goudron. Très souple à l’attaque, ses tannins
sont bien fondus, et il présente une texture suave. C’est un vin de joli style qui évoluera
peut-être assez rapidement.”
