USAID WA-WASH PARTICIPE AU PREMIER ATELIER DE
COLLABORATION DES PARTENAIRES DE USAID RISE ET USAID/
AFRIQUE DE L’OUEST A OUAGADOUGOU, AU BURKINA FASO
USAID WA-WASH TAKES ACTIVE PART IN THE FIRST USAID RISE
AND USAID/WEST AFRICA PARTNERS WORKSHOP IN
OUAGADOUGOU, BURKINA FASO
Du 15 au 17 novembre 2016, l’Initiative pour la Résilience Accrue
au Sahel (RISE) de USAID/Sénégal et le Bureau Régional de la
Croissance Economique (REGO) de l’USAID/Afrique de l’Ouest
ont organisé le premier atelier de leurs partenaires à
Ouagadougou, au Burkina Faso. Regroupant les programmes et
projets financés par l’USAID au Burkina Faso et au Niger, cette
rencontre visait à promouvoir une synergie des actions et une
meilleure collaboration entre eux et d’autres, en vue de
renforcer l’impact des actions sur le terrain.
From November 15 to 17, 2016, USAID/Senegal Resilience in
the Sahel Enhanced (RISE) and USAID/West Africa Regional
Economic Growth Office (REGO) organized the first workshop
of their partners in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. In addition to
bringing together the USAID-funded programs and projects in
Burkina Faso and Niger, this meeting aimed to promote
synergy of action and better collaboration between them and
others for increased impact of actions on the ground.
Dans leur mot de bienvenue, Mme. Mary Hobbs (Directrice
Régionale de la Croissance Economique de l’USAID Afrique de
l’Ouest) et M. Jim Parys (Représentant de l’USAID au Burkina
Faso) ont remercié les participants pour leur présence à cette
première rencontre de collaboration. Selon Mme. Hobbs et M.
Parys, cette rencontre donne l’opportunité aux responsables de
ces programmes et projets de partager leurs expériences. Elle
était envisagée depuis plus d’une année déjà. REGO et RISE
espèrent que cette rencontre permettra de dégager des stratégies
pour une meilleure coordination des programmes financés par
l'USAID au Burkina Faso et au Niger. Cette rencontre s’est
déroulée sous forme de plénière et de travaux de groupes.
In their welcoming address, Mary Hobbs (USAID West Africa
Regional Economic Growth Director) and Jim Parys (USAID
Representative in Burkina Faso) thanked the participants for
their participation in this first collaboration meeting. According
to Mrs. Hobbs and Mr. Parys, this meeting which was envisioned
more than a year ago, provides an opportunity for those
responsible for these programs and projects to share their
experiences. REGO and RISE hope that this meeting will identify
strategies for better coordination of USAID-funded programs in
Burkina Faso and Niger. This meeting was held in both plenary
sessions and group work.
Les travaux de groupes ont porté sur: les objectifs généraux à
atteindre dans les régions ciblés au Burkina Faso et au Niger; les
opportunités à identifier pour la coordination des activités pour
un plus grand impact; les actions spécifiques à engager d’ici la fin
des programmes. Les actions spécifiques issues des travaux de
groupes ont permis de faire des planifications intégrant les
activités des différentes parties prenantes.
The group work focused on: the general objectives to be
achieved in the targeted regions in Burkina Faso and Niger; the
opportunities to be identified for activity coordination so that to
achieve greater impact; the specific actions to be undertaken by
the end of the programs. The specific actions resulting from the
group works helped develop plans reflecting the activities of the
various stakeholders.
Cette rencontre a aussi été une opportunité pour les différents
programmes et projets de présenter leurs activités à travers une
foire d’exposition. USAID WA-WASH a animé un stand d’exposition
où les participants ont davantage appris sur les activités du
Programme. Elle a aussi permis à M. Lassané Zongo, Directeur
Général d’ACOMMES (une entreprise privée spécialisée dans la
fabrication de pompes à corde, de lave-mains et de charrues
rippers promus par USAID WA-WASH) de présenter ce qu’il fait.
Saluant l’initiative de l’USAID/Sénégal et de l’USAID/Afrique de
l’Ouest de créer un cadre d’échanges entre les responsables de
programmes et projets financés par l’USAID au Burkina Faso et au
Niger, Dr. Lakhdar Boukerrou, Directeur Régional de USAID WAWASH affirme: « Plus il y a de concertations entre nous, mieux
nous aboutirons à une réelle synergie dans nos actions, avec des
résultats qui s’inscrivent dans la durabilité».
This meeting was also an opportunity for the various programs
and projects to present their activities through an exhibition fair.
USAID WA-WASH hosted an exhibition booth where participants
learned more about the Program's activities. It also allowed Mr.
Lassané Zongo, Managing Director of ACOMMES (a private
company specializing in the manufacture of USAID WA-WASHpromoted rope pumps, handwashing stations, and rippers) to
present what he is doing. Welcoming the initiative of USAID/
Senegal and USAID/West Africa to create an exchange
framework between USAID-funded programs and projects in
Burkina Faso and Niger, Dr. Lakhdar Boukerrou, USAID WAWASH Regional Director says: "The more consultations we have,
the better synergy we will achieve in our actions, for sustained
results in the long term."
