First edition of this collection of 48 versified fables by Charles Régnault who published two years before a
play entitled Marie Stuard, reyne d'Ecosse dedicated to Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots. His fables are mostly
inspired by Ovid's Metamorphoses.
Despite slight defects and yellowish paper, a good copy of this rare book.

Most of the following texts concern reforming attempts of France finances during Louis XVI of France
reign by two ministers of the finances: Jacques Necker (1732-1804) in charge from 1776 to 1783, and his
successor Charles Alexandre de Calonne (1734-1802) in charge from 1783 to 1787. Both had to resigned
regarding the abyssal debt of France and the impossibility to impose reforming measures to nobles,
clergy and Parliaments.
All texts are in first edition or in 8vo format first edition.

social , n.d., x, 52 pages. Scarce first French translation of Thomas Paine's pamphlet The Decline and Fall of
the English System of Finance. Thomas Paine (philosopher and political theorist, 1737-1809), had strong
sympathies withe the French Revolution. He was made French citizen and became a deputy to the
National Convention despite the fact the couldn't speak French. After the coup of 18 Brumaire he
condemned Napoleon Bonaparte dictatorship and left France in 1802 for the United States where he died
