
As to flying in the area, there are noteworthy destinations such as Quiberon (LFEQ) and Belle
Ile(LFEA), 15 minutes away by RV. Plus of course the view from above.

Vannes is a medieval city which benefits from all the assets of a contemporary city with plenty to
attract tourists.
For additional tourist info please visit : http://www.tourisme-vannes.com/
The Aero-club du Pays de VANNES, builder of an RV9A and VCF member, is looking forward to having lots of
non French participate with them for this gathering. http://www.aeroclub-vannes.net/
Special precautions when flying over the Morbihan gulf : This ecosystem is particularly protected, hosts
numerous marine bird colonies, and enjoys a strong tourist activity particularly sensitive as to the environment.
This has led to flight restriction with a minimum of 1000’ (see the link below). However, to maintain good
relations with local pilots and the public in general, we request that you stay above 2000’ when in the area.
Furthermore, please keep in mind that there is a lot of traffic as well as numerous ultra lights without radio.

Arrivals and Departures : As usual you may arrive on Friday and depart on Sunday or at any time in
between. We foresee no restrictions. You must of course consult Vannes NOTAMS (LFRV) and proceed
according to normal aircraft operating procedures. And as usual the organizers decline all responsibility as to
flying in/out of Vannes and all aircraft operations therein. Remember, the ship’s captain is sole master on
board. Be particularly attentive to entry points and restricted zones.
.
Customs : Vannes does not provide border crossing services. Participants from non Schengen countries,
namely the UK, must clear customs/immigration in an appropriate airport before landing in Vannes
(Cherbourg, Brest, La Baule, Nantes, Saint Nazaire, Le Touquet are possible choices – but please double
check times, availability, restrictions, before departure).
Runways : Paved 04/22 runway 1530 x 45m – exit A for the VCF parking (hard or grass, as you wish)
The 08/26 grass runway 995 x 60m is generally off limits due to parachuting activity. However since there is no
parachuting between 12h and 14h local time, the grass runway may be used after clearance from ATS.
Furthermore, if there were a strong crosswind on the paved runway, it is possible to ask ATS clearance for the
grass runway.
Fuel : 100LL is available, payment via a Total card or CASH IN EUROS. NO CREDIT CARDS OR CHECKS..
Please fuel up upon arrival if during normal operating hours (consult airport plate).
Airplane Parking : The site is large – there should be no problem parking all visiting aircraft. RVs will park on
the grass opposite the aero club and tower. RV-As will have the option to park on tarmac however there is no
tie down facility. Non RVs will park on the north side of these parking areas. Pilots will be assisted by parking
marshals however it is the pilot’s responsibility to taxi, park and tie down their airplanes properly and safely
notwithstanding any directions from the marshals. Crew and passengers should wear yellow jackets when
on the tarmac.
Registration : After parking and securing their airplanes, pilots are requested to register with the organizers at
a booth located in the aero club and thereby obtain tickets for meals and badges. Payment may be effected in
cash € or check on a French bank. Visitors from non € countries are requested to obtain Euros before
departure as there are no cash machines in the airport. Once registered, luggage may be stored temporarily in
the aero club prior to transfer to the hotel. Finally, those pilots eager to have their joy and pride rewarded by
the VCF jury should identify themselves when registering. As was done at Nuits St. Georges, prizes will be in
the form of goodies graciously offered by Van’s and Avery.
Landing and parking fees : The S.E.V.A., manager of the airport, has traditionally waived landing and
parking fees for visiting aircrafts during special events such as our get together. There shall be no landing and
parking fees. Our thanks to the S.E.V.A.
Weather : Pilots may use the aero club’s computers to obtain weather info. Situational bulletins will be posted
regularly. An automatic weather station transmits regular METARs on the hour.
Meals : Food will be offered from within the aero club’s hangar from Friday evening to Sunday lunch, except
for Saturday night.
Friday supper 12,00€ cold buffet
Saturday lunch 20,00€ buffet with hot dish
Saturday Gala Dinner 40,00€ As usual – good meal and good wine starting 20h30
Sunday lunch 7,00€ food bags to eat on site or to carry for the trip back
The S.E.V.A. will greet us with a glass of wine Saturday night at 19h00. Thank you again S.E.V.A.

Open Bar : Given it’s success at Nuits St. Georges we have decided to do a repeat. There will be an open bar
BUT YOU MUST WEAR YOUR BADGE!!! Beer and local cider – to drink with moderation of course. We ask
that you be reasonable…
Lodging : There are lots of hotels in town or near the airport. You may also camp in a five star camping site
for a token fee near the para club on the airport premises – reservations required. Unfortunately, camping next
to the airplanes will not be possible. http://www.campingvannes.com/.
Transport to/from the airport A VCF minibus shuttle service will be held between the airport, the camping
ground and hotels marked with an * below. Participants who come with their cars will be requested to
participate in the shuttle service keeping within the spirit of VCF fly-ins. As to the Saturday night gala diner,
return to hotels and to the camping grounds will be assured. We shall leave no one stranded.
Tourism : The Morbihan region is truely beautiful, as are most parts of France (we are not being chauvinistic,
not much that is). We have compiled below several links which should help you discover the region. Hopefully
the weather will be perfect, this being said Brittany is generally warmer than further inland, it benefits form
benign temperatures. Tourism has become a highly developed activity. If possible, try to take some time off to
visit at least Belle Ile and/or Quiberon.
WE ANTICIPATE LOTS OF RVs, FRENCH AND EUROPEAN.
