2014 Board of Directors Candidate List Action Côte-de - ASH-ACS
Action Sandy Hill – 2014 Board of Directors Candidate List
Action Côte-de-Sable - Liste des Candidats pour le Conseil d'Administration 2014
Camille Ainslie, 152 Marlborough Avenue
My husband and I moved to Sandy Hill in 1996 because of its vibrancy, diversity, green spaces, strong
sense of community, and walking/cycling distance to work or most amenities. We bought our first house
on Nelson Street, became parents to our 2 lovely daughters, and when our dog joined the family, moved
to Marlborough Ave.
I’ve volunteered in various community projects over the years such as: Scout’s (Beaver) leader; the
board of Bettye Hyde; soccer coach at the Internationals; and ASH’s Sandy Hill Infrastructure Taskforce.
This last year, I’ve volunteered at the local farmers market, helped flood the skating rink, been involved
in ASH’s Planning Committee, Town and Gown, and became one of the newly created ASH Block
Representatives.
I’m running for the ASH Board because I’d like to help preserve the things that make Sandy Hill such a
great place to live, and maintain our sense of community. I also believe my volunteerism, legal training,
and career as a Policy Analyst, have equipped me with the knowledge and skills necessary to tackle the
many issues facing our neighbourhood.
Patricia Archer, 192 Marlborough Avenue (many, many years resident)
I have had a home-based business for 17 years in Financial and Administrative Management.
I am currently the Treasurer for “Save Sandy Hill” and a member of the Fundraising Committee and am
interested in filling the position of Treasurer which is being vacated.
I have many years of volunteer work in various capacities and was on the ASH board during the building
of the Rideau Centre.
I understand that there are eight vacancies on the board so am here to help out my community.

With my candidacy I want to preserve, improve and defend the life of my SH neighborhood respecting
harmonious relationships.
Graduate from OU in Political Science and Public Administration, retired as a French teacher from 1991
to 2012, I livedin Sandy Hill in rooms and apartments from 1973 to 1978, 1981 to 1984, and from 1990
to now. As a volunteer, I was a student journalist and representative on committees and boards of OU
from 1974 to 1979; member of the Board of the Real Food Coop, Ottawa (1980-1984); in Saint-Jean-surRichelieu, Quebec, as secretary of an ecological regional movement (MEHR, 1986-1990) and as president
of the Housing Coop Voisins(CMHC, 1988-89); secretary, president and coordinator of a coop of teachers
in French, English, Spanish, l’École coopérative d’enseignement de l’Outaouais, ECLO (1992-1998);
bilingual president of the Refugees Committee of the catholic parish Basilica Cathedral Notre-Dame of
Ottawa (2000-2004); member of the Board, secretary and president of its Pastoral Council (1995-2005);
and member of the Board (2014).
My interests are: regulations, relations with stakeholders, planning and development, fund raising,
improvement and promotion.
In short, I want to serve my neighbourhood at best.
Thanks for your support!
Brian Murphy, 194 Cobourg Street
I am an archivist, retired from Library and Archives Canada, where I was very active with the archivists’
union for ten+ years. My wife and I and our three sons have lived on Cobourg St for eight years and
before that on Goulburn Ave for 15 years.
In Centretown during the 1980s, I was active in the Community Association, the election campaigns for
Diane Holmes (including her first!), heritage, and was on the Board of CCOC – Ottawa’s largest provider
of community non-profit housing.
When we moved to Sandy Hill in 1991, my wife or I were on the Boards or Committees of Bettye Hyde,
ASH, and Crichton School. I worked on the Sandy Hill election campaigns of Nancy Mitchell and of
Stéphane Émard-Chabot.

Recently I helped other ASH members lobby City Councillors on the Viner proposal at Laurier and Friel,
and have committed to work on the ASH committee on the development.
The development pressures on our community and the City of Ottawa’s enthusiasm for upzoning and for
high rise developments challenge us all. The destruction of the Stewart-Dworkin Building, and the
threat to the Culinary Conspiracy building at Rideau & Cobourg, erode the prospect of Rideau Street as a
livable, walkable “main street”. ASH needs experienced people to push the City to balance development
with sensible zoning, heritage, and Community Design Plans.
I ask for your vote to serve on the ASH Board.
Jeremy Silburt, 1-525 Chapel Street
My name is Jeremy Silburt. I was born and raised in Ottawa near the Civic Hospital. I attended Nepean
High School as a kid. I later attended Carleton University where I graduated in 2007 with a B.A. in
Economics with a minor in Law. I purchased my home in Sandy Hill in 2012. I have fallen in love with this
fantastic neighbourhood. I hope to take an active part in keeping this neighbourhood amazing for
everyone that lives in it. This would be my first time on a community board and I hope to bring forward
some energy and perspective from a young working professional to the ASH board.
Marc Tremblay, 438 Daly Avenue
I live in Sandy Hill and have lived at 438 Daly Avenue since 2006. I attended the University of Ottawa,
where I obtained my law degree and met my wife, Elizabeth. Our two boys attended Francojeunesse
public school and the older is now at De La Salle. I hold a senior position in the federal government. My
recent experience as a citizen directly confronted with a development project incompatible with Sandy
Hill’s historic and residential character (of limited height) inspired me to get involved and to create a
vision of urban planning which is sustainable, democratic, ecological, predictable and transparent.

Marc Tremblay, 438 avenue Daly
d’urbanisme.
