Litany of Learning: A Prayer for the New School Year
We come before you, Lord, to pray for your help and celebrate the
gifts of creative and curious minds. You call us to care for your
world and your word. Help us to learn about them so that we may
be faithful to our calling. YOU ARE WIDE AND DEEP!
We promise
to use our minds to study your world and your word, to
use our eyes, hands and ears to learn, and
to use our tongues to
discuss, question and probe. We are fearfully and wonderfully
made. YOU ARE WIDE AND DEEP!
We celebrate ideas, numbers, words and skills. We celebrate puzzles,
paints and colours. We celebrate imagination, instruments and
enigmas. All of it, Lord, is a part of your world. Your world is
marvellous! YOU ARE WIDE AND DEEP!
We thank you for teachers who teach about your world and your
Word. We thank you for children, youth, adults and seniors who
see the wonders of your world unfold before them as they study
and teach. YOU ARE WIDE AND DEEP!
Help us to learn and teach with joy. Push us to set higher goals when
learning seems easy, to keep on trying when learning becomes
difficult, and to use the full potential with which you blessed each
of us. YOU ARE WIDE AND DEEP!
We thank you, God, for the whole Sunday school family. We support
and encourage them in learning and expanding their knowledge.
We pledge our support to them. Give us a desire to learn.
Give us
strength and energy.
Give us a desire to do our very best.
God, we
will uphold our children, teachers and the whole Sunday school
family in prayer. Together, Lord, we promise to study and use our
learning today and tomorrow as we serve you faithfully. We pray in
the name of the great teacher, Jesus, who told us not to be afraid.
Amen

There will be a special meeting of the Plymouth-Trinity Church
Board on Sunday, September 18th, 2016 at 10:30 AM. We will be
meeting Kristine Greenaway, in charge of Ministry in French (MiF)
for The United Church of Canada and receiving a report from the
group that has been working on a MiF project for Plymouth-Trinity.
As many of you know, this group, including francophones attending
le culte en français at P-T, has been conducting a sort of ‘market
analysis’ to asses their needs and the opportunities for a United
Church pilot project outreach to the French-speaking population of
Sherbrooke. This will be the only item on the agenda.
As always, everyone is welcome to attend Board meetings; we
encourage you to be present on Sunday, September 18th at 10:30 AM.
(Exceptionally, on September 18th the worship service in English will
be at 6 PM when we will celebrate the baptism of Meredith Lambie.)
The Board will meet on Tuesday, September 20th at 7:30 PM.
Non-native English-speakers: Next ESL session in the parlour on
Wednesday, October 28th, from 6-7:30 PM. Please inform Val
Rawlings (819-562-8630) in time if you cannot attend.
Prochain cours d’anglais : mercredi le 8 octobre, de 18 h à 19 h 30. Veuillez
avertir à temps Val Rawlings (819-562-8630) si vous avez un empêchement.

I NEED YOU EVERY HOUR / J’AI SOIF DE TA PRÉSENCE
1. I need thee every hour, most gracious Lord;
no tender voice but thine can peace afford.
CHORUS
I need thee, O I need thee; every hour I need thee.
O bless me now, my Saviour; I come to thee.
2. Quand l’en-ne-mi, dans l’om-bre, s’as-semble au-tour de moi,
ac-ca-blé par le nombre, que pour-rais-je sans toi ?
REFRAIN
Chaque jour, à chaque heure, oh j’ai besoin de toi !
Viens, Jésus et demeure, demeure auprès de moi !
3. I need thee every hour; in joy or pain;
come quickly and abide, or life is vain. CHORUS
4. O Jé-sus, ta pré-sen-ce, c’est la vie et la paix
la paix dans la souf-fran-ce, et la vie à ja-mais. REFRAIN
JUST AS I AM / TEL QUE JE SUIS
1. Tel que je suis, sans rien à moi si-non ton sang ver-sé pour moi !
Et ta voix qui m'ap-pelle à toi, A-gneau de Dieu, je viens, je viens !
2. Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind, Sight, riches, healing of the mind
Yea, all I need, in Thee to find O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
3. Tel que je suis, ton cœur est prêt à pren-dre le mien tel qu'il est,
Pour tout chan-ger, Sau-veur par-fait, A-gneau de Dieu, je viens, je viens !
4. Just as I am, thy love unknown has broken every barrier down;
now to be thine, yea, thine alone, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
