A new voice for the €fficient building engineering services sector:
GCP Europe
The best installer has the know-how to directly advise and greatly reduce the energy bill of every
end-consumer; it is therefore imperative that the efficient building value chain - architects,
engineers, manufacturers, and policy-makers – keeps being in sync with installers.
Brussels, 3rd November 2014 - The trade association representing installers of technical building
equipment GCI-UICP has changed its name into “GCP Europe”. Such was decided at the last General
Assembly in Dublin, last 25th through 27th September.
Carrying a new name, logo, and website GCP Europe is better fit for purpose: highlight the
many benefits that optimised technical services offer to European Union decision-makers. The old
French acronym ‘GCI-UICP’ already dated back to 2001 following the merger of the former two
mechanical installers’ associations, GCI (1935) and UICP (1956).
The General Assembly also saw the election of a new board as well as a new Secretary General. The
past president Mr. Michael McCloskey (B&ES, United Kingdom) stepped aside to make place for Mr.
Marcel Engels (UNETO-VNI, The Netherlands) as new president. Members’ delegates also elected Mr.
Karl-Walter Schuster (BTGA, Germany) as Vice-President and Mr. Thijs de Wolff as Secretary General.
On this special occasion Mr. Engels as new president commented that ‘GCP Europe as a

major European association strives to become the EU’s principal spokesman for smarter, more
sustainable, and innovative EU policies for the building engineering sector. Applying ambitious
energy and climate solutions in our sector is imperative to face the environmental and demographic
challenges of the future.’
It is the ambition of GCP Europe to collaborate with EU level stakeholders towards the goal of
achieving sustainability in the built environment. Naturally it remains at home in an ever-important
issue for Europe nowadays: energy performance of buildings and the growing residential
consumption of energy. GCP Europe believes a reinvigorated approach towards energy efficiency by
the now installed European Commission’s Team Juncker 2015-2019 is needed.
GCP Europe is an international non-profit association that acts as the voice of the €fficient building engineering services
towards the European Union institutions and the Brussels scene in general. It is an umbrella organisation consisting of 22
national member associations (mainly in the EU) whose member companies services cover the width of installation of HVAC,
sanitary, renewable energy, application of ICT in the construction process, audit, and performance contracting, to name a
few.

Une nouvelle voix pour le secteur des services d’ingénierie du
bâtiment €fficaces: GCP Europe
Le meilleur installateur sait conseiller directement chaque consommateur final et réduire
considérablement les frais d’énergie de celui-ci. C’est pourquoi il est essentiel que la chaîne de
valeur du bâtiment efficace – architectes, fabricants et autorités publiques - reste en phase avec
les installateurs.
Bruxelles, le 3 novembre 2014 – Le syndicat professionnel représentant les installateurs
d’équipement technique de bâtiment GCI-UICP a changé son nom en « GCP Europe ». La décision fut
prise lors de la dernière assemblée générale les 25-27 septembre dernier à Dublin.
Avec un nouveau nom, un nouveau logo et un nouveau site web, GCP Europe est mieux adapté à ses
objectifs : collaborer avec les parties prenantes à Bruxelles pour atteindre un environnement durable
dans le bâtiment. L’ancien acronyme français « GCI-UICP » datait de 2001 et faisait suite à la fusion
entre les deux associations d’installateurs mécaniques GCI (crée en 1935) et UICP (crée en 1954).
L’assemblée générale a aussi élu un nouveau Conseil d’Administration et un nouveau Secrétaire
Général. L’ancien Président Michael McCloskey (B&ES, Royaume-Uni) a laissé la place à Marcel
Engels (UNETO-NVI, Pays-Bas), élu nouveau Président. Les adhérents ont aussi élu Karl-Walter
Schuster (BTGA, Allemagne) Vice-Président ainsi que Thijs de Wolff Secrétaire Général.
Lors de cette occasion spéciale le nouveau président, M. Engels, a souligné que “CGP Europe en tant
qu’association européenne d’importance a l’ambition de devenir le principal porte-parole de l’EU

quand il s’agit d’une politique plus intelligente, plus durable et plus innovateur pour le secteur de
l’ingénierie du bâtiment”. L’application de solutions ambitieuses pour l’énergie et le climat est
essentielle pour affronter les défis environnementaux et démographiques de l’avenir.
Le message de GCP Europe est de mettre en lumière les nombreux avantages offerts par des services
techniques optimisés. Cela s’intègre parfaitement dans le dialogue actuel dont l’importance est
croissante à Bruxelles : la performance énergétique des bâtiments reste un très important sujet
d’actualité pour l’Europe d’aujourd’hui: la performance énergétique des bâtiments et la
consommation croissante d’énergie des ménages. GCP Europe accueille favorablement l’approche
revigorée en matière d’efficacité énergétique annoncée par la nouvelle Commission européenne et
l’équipe de M. Junker pour la période 2015-2019.
GCP Europe est une association internationale à but non-lucratif installée à Bruxelles et qui agit
comme représentant du secteur des services efficaces d’ingénierie du bâtiment vis-à-vis des
institutions the l’Union Européenne et de Bruxelles en général. Il s’agit d’une organisation qui
chapeaute 22 associations nationales membres (principalement dans l’UE) dont les sociétés
adhérentes offrent des services couvrant l’installation d’équipement de chauffage et de climatisation,
sanitaires, énergies renouvelables, application des TIC dans les processus de construction, audit,
contrat de performance.

Eine neue Stimme für €ffiziente Gebäudetechnikdienstleistungen:
GCP Europe
Die besten Anlagenbauer verfügen über das nötige Know-how, um durch ihre Beratung die
Energiekosten jedes Endverbrauchers beträchtlich zu reduzieren. Daher muss eine effiziente
Wertschöpfungskette im Bauwesen - Architekten, Ingenieure, Hersteller und politische
Entscheidungsträger - unbedingt im Einklang mit den Anlagenbauern bleiben.
Brüssel, 3. Nov. 2014. Der europäische Verband der Anlagenbauer im der Gebäudetechnik GCI-UICP
hat seinen Namen auf "GCP Europe" geändert, wie auf der diesjährigen Generalversammlung in
Dublin (25.-27. September) beschlossen wurde.
Mit neuem Namen und Logo, sowie einer neuen Website ist GCP Europe noch besser dafür
gerüstet, den Entscheidungsträgern der EU die vielen Vorteile optimaler technischer
Dienstleistungen nahe zu bringen. Die alte französische Abkürzung "GCI-UICP" stammte aus dem Jahr
2001 und war das Ergebnis des Zusammenschlusses der früheren Verbände der SHK-Techniker GCI
(1935) und UICP (1956).
Bei der Generalversammlung wurden auch ein neuer Vorstand und ein neuer Generalsekretär
gewählt. Der scheidende Präsident Michael McCloskey (B&ES, UK) machte Platz für Marcel Engels
(UNETO-VNI, Niederlande). Die Delegierten der Mitgliedsverbände wählten auch Karl-Walter
Schuster (BTGA, Deutschland) zum Vizepräsidenten und Thijs de Wolff zum Generalsekretär.
Bei diesem besonderen Anlass wies Herr Engels als neuer Präsident darauf hin, dass "GCP

Europe als bedeutender Europäischer Verband danach strebt, der wichtigste Ansprechpartner
innerhalb der EU für intelligentere, nachhaltigere und innnovativere EU-Strategien für den Bausektor
zu werden. Zur Bewältigung der Herausforderungen durch Umweltschutz und
Bevölkerungsentwicklung sind ehrgeizige Energie- und Klimalösungen unbedingt erforderlich."
GCP Europe hat die Absicht mit Interessensgruppen auf EU-Ebene beim Ziel der Nachhaltigkeit in der
bebauten Umwelt zusammen zu arbeiten. Selbstverständlich bleibt GCP Europe weiterhin zuständig
für ein Thema, das heute in Europa wichtiger denn je ist: die Energieperformance von Gebäuden und
der zunehmende Energieverbrauch in Wohnungen. GCP Europe vertritt die Meinung, dass das Team
der für 2015-2019 ernannten Kommission Junckers unbedingt eine entschiedenere Haltung zur
Energieeffizienz einnehmen sollte.
GCP Europe ist eine internationale Non-Profit-Organisation, die gegenüber den EU-Behörden und auf
dem Brüsseler Pflaster als Stimme der €ffizienten Gebäudetechnikdienstleistungen auftritt. Sie ist der
Dachverband von 22 nationalen Mitgliedsverbänden (hauptsächlich aus der EU), deren
Mitgliedsunternehmen mit ihren Leistungen unter anderem die Bereiche Heizung, Lüftung und Klima,
Sanitär, erneuerbare Energieträger, IKT-Anwendungen im Bauwesen, Audit und PerformanceContracting abdecken.
