Lieutenant-­‐Colonel Damian P. Boyle, CD, LCol Damian Boyle joined the Canadian Forces in 1983 as a 221 Rad Tech Pte. His first two jobs were Base Telecom and the Aerospace Maintenance Development Unit, both in Trenton. He was picked up for UTPM in 1989 and commissioned in 1991 as a Log Officer, along the way reluctantly being forced to turn in his blue uniform for a brown one. After a few years at Base Supply, Borden, he moved to the Army of the West in 1994, where he dug in (deep), first at 1 Svc Bn, then the truly wonderful LdSH(RC), followed by the short-­‐lived 1 GS Bn, before returning to his beloved 1 Svc Bn. Following his time as EA to Commander LFWA he hit the jackpot. His steady contributions to the Career Manager’s party fund finally paid off as he was promoted to LCol and posted to Europe in 2007. Finishing two years at NATO’s Joint Force Command HQ Brunssum, he subsequently opened the CF Eurohub at Spangdahlem in 2009…and then closed it in 2012. As nobody wanted a decrepit, muzzle-­‐loading LCol working for them back in Canada, the CM subsequently saw fit to off-­‐load him onto NATO’s Rapid Deployable Corps Turkey HQ in Istanbul, where he currently steals oxygen. Although LCol Boyle has had some marvelous postings and tours in some fantastic locations, the true highlight of his career has been the privilege and the fun of working alongside some of the greatest people in the Army, the RCAF, and occasionally the Navy, that any person could ever hope to meet. It wasn’t a job, it was an adventure! LCol Boyle and Laurel are retiring (along with some Turkish cats) to Okotoks, Alberta, where he hopes to further his hobbies of collecting Scotch, wearing idiotic hats, and cat wrangling. His Departure With Dignity will be held at the Senol Kolcuoglu Restaurant in Istanbul, Turkey on 5 June at 1200 hrs. Ses deux premiers emplois étaient a l'unité de développement de la maintenance aérospatiale Telecom de Trenton. Il a été sélèctionner pour UTPM en 1989 et mis en service en 1991 en tant qu'officier Logistique, le chemin à été contrecoeur étant forcé de se changer son uniforme bleu pour une brune. Après quelques années à l’approvisionnement de la base de Borden, il a déménagé en 1994 dans l'Ouest , où il a creusé dans (profondeur), d'abord à 1 Bn Svc, alors le LdSH vraiment merveilleux (RC), suivie par l'éphémère 1 Bon SG, avant de retourner à sa bien-­‐
aimée 1 Bn Svc. Après son temps comme EA au commandant du SOFT, il a touché le jackpot. Ses contributions comme gérant de carrieèere ont finalement payé, promu lieutenant-­‐ colonel et est affecté à l'Europe en 2007. Finalement deux ans, à la Force opérationnelle interarmées de commandement HQ Brunssum de l'OTAN, il a ensuite ouvert Spangdahlem en 2009 ... et puis fermé en 2012. De retour au Canada, le GC a jugé bon de le muté au QG Turquie à Istanbul. Bien que le Lcol Boyle a eu des affectations merveilleuses et des visites dans certains endroits fantastiques, le vrai point culminant de sa carrière a été le privilège et le plaisir de travailler aux côtés de certains des plus grands de personnes dans l'armée, l'aviation, et parfois la Marine, que toute personne ne pourrait jamais espérer rencontrer. Ce ne fut pas un emploi, ce fût une aventure! Lcol Boyle et Laurel prennent leur retraite (avec quelques chats turcs) à Okotoks, en Alberta, où il espère faire avancer sa collection de Scotch, de chapeaux idiots. Son départ dans la dignité aura lieu à la Senol Kolcuoglu Restaurant à Istanbul, en Turquie, le 5 Juin à 12h00.
