After training in classical, jazz and modern dance, Geneviève Dorion-Coupal acquired experience
in theater, television, cinema, publicity and video-clip. She choreographed several big
productions (Génération Motown, Night Fever, Fête musicale de Joe Dassin, Dalida une vie,
Elvis Story, Cyclone), musicals (Chicago, Michel Fugain et le Big Bazar, les Nonnes, La
Légende de Jimmy, Qu’est-ce qu’on attend pour être heureux, Pied de Poule), televised
galas (Star Académie 1,2 and 3 (teacher and choreographer), Heure de Gloire, Demandes
Spéciales, Les Gémeaux, Célébration, Just for Laugh, Cent ans de Desjardins, D’Amérique
et de Solidarité, Soirée Africaine des Francofolies, Soirée Antillaise des Francofolies,
several Juste pour Rire/Just for Laughs galas) publicities and films (Idole Instantanée, Alys
Robi, Maman Last call, Mambo Italiano, L’Odyssée d’Alice Tremblay). She worked with
Céline Dion on her Unison tour, with Garou on the preparation of his SEUL tour, and also on all
the Star Académie tours (2003 to 2006).
More recently,she participated in the making of Cirque du Soleil’s LOVE in Las Vegas, Joe
Dassin, la grande fête musicale, the Super Bowl’s televised show with Cirque du Soleil and
the Beladi megaproduction, featuring Chantal Chamandy (Cairo, Egypt). In 2008, she
choreographed Quebec City’s 400-year commemorative show, the musicals Sweet Charity
(Théâtre du Rideau Vert) and Les Misérables (Le Capitole de Québec). She is currently working
with Véronique Dicaire for her new production, Man in Black of Johnny Cash and and Cirque
du Soleil’s all new show due for 2010.
