Studies
Born in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France, Gilles Poirier studied classical and contemporary dance at the National Conservatory of Lyon and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon in the class
of Marie-France Delieuvin under the direction of Didier Deschamps. Graduated in 1991.
Career
Joined in 1992 the companie Ris Danceries managed by Francine Lancelot, produced by Zarandanzas,
choreographers Lancelot, Yepes, Ambert.
1994 to 2004: Soloist in Barock Dance Company’s L’Eventail, directed by Marie-Geneviève Massé: 10 creations with international tours:
- Concert of Dance,
- Don Quixote chez la Duchesse “Ballet Comique de JB Boismortier”,
- The Journey of Terpsichore,
- Ballet of the Masks,
- Caprice Rebel,
- Carnival or the Upside Down Party,
- Travel in Europe,
- Don Juan,
- Didon & Enée « Opera by Henry Purcell »,
- L’Amour Malade.
In 1995 works with The Commedia dell’Arte of Ferruccio Soleri and barock gesture with Philippe Lénaël
in the Barock Theatre of France, managed by Philippe Beaussant, in charge of the follow-up of two creations: (L’Ecole des Amants and Monsieur de Pourceaugnac) both Comédie-Ballet by Molière and Lully.
From 1993 to 2013 Gilles preforms as free-lance danser in various Opera productions:

- 2008 Barock Ensemble of Limoges, directed by Christophe Coin, creation at the Opéra Théâtre of Limoges and at the Bouffes du Nord, of (Le Maître à Danser), choreograph of the barock répertoire.
- in 2011 he choreographed and directed the opéra “Orfeo” by Luigi Rossi at the Opéra Théatre of Limoges for the students of the Limoges conservatory.
- Dancer and assistant of the choreographer Françoise Denieau, at the Théâtre de l’Athénée, in (l’Egisto
opéra bouffe from Marrazzoli and Mazzocchi), stage design by Monory
- in 2012: Dancer and assistant of the choreographer Natalie Van Parys at the Opera Garnier, in (“Hippolyte and Aricie” an opéra by Rameau) directed by Yvan Alexander.
- on January 20, 2013 at Théatre Graslin, in Nantes, Gilles Poirier puts an end to his dancing career after
the last performance of the Opéra “Venus and Adonis” by J. Blow, stage design by Louise Moaty, and choreography by Françoise Denieau.

Holds since 2003 a French National Diploma of Classical Dance.
Guest Teacher at the Conservatory of Cergy-Pontoise, Gagny, and Limoges.
