Bollettino di Servizio Service Bulletin
Bollettino di Servizio Service Bulletin No. 91 Date Nov. 30, 1993 Approvato dal R.A.I./R.A.I approved: (94-75/TNA 11.01.1994) Note: Only engineering aspects are R.A.I approved. If inspection, modifications or technical prescriptions and their relative times of compliance are compulsory for the R.A.I., the sanction is in the relevant airworthiness directives. Subject: - STABILATOR TORQUE TUBE ATTACHMENT SHELVES (P/N 5.3017-1/2) - FLAP HINGE SHELVES (P/N 1.3041-3/4; 1.3043-2) - AILERON HINGE SHELVES (P/N 1.3045-2; 1.3047-1/2) Type: Information Recommended Mandatory only Action Action A case of corroded shelves has been reported to us. It is mandatory to check their surface treatment as per following instructions (Part "A" and "B"). Models affected & S/N: All P68 a/c series Time of compliance: At next 100 hours inspection Weight and balance change: // Publications affected: Maintenance Manual Modification to be carried out by: User Page 1 of 4 PARTENAVIA Service Bulletin N 91 Instructions: Part "A" - Inspection of the stabilator torque tube attachment shelves (P/N 5.3017- 1/2) 1. Remove tail cone. 2. Visually check surface treatment (Alodine 1200) of stabilator torque tube attachment shelves. Note Treated surfaces are easily idetifiable for their typical yellow colour. 3. In case of treated surfaces, use the current Maintenance Schedule reported in the Maintenance Manual and skip to 7 point of this part. 4. In case of untreated surfaces, visually check shelves for corrosion. 5. If corrosion is found, contact Partenavia for the necessary actions. 6. If corrosion is not found, it is necessary to modify the current Maintenance schedule to check the shelves for corrosion every 200 flight hours or 1 year whichever the first. Note Page 4 of 4 shows the flow-chart of the actions as per points 2 through 6. 7. Reinstall tail cone and record the application of this Service Bulletin in the a/c Log-book. Note Convert the shelf surfaces with alodine 1200 (MIL-C-5541) at the next stabilator torque tube removal. Said operation annuls the Maintenance schedule modification of point 6 to use the current schedule of the Maintenance Manual. Page 2 of 4 PARTENAVIA Service Bulletin N 91 Instructions: Part "B" - Inspection of the flap hinge shelves (P/N 1.3041-3/4; 1.3043-2) - Inspection of the aileron hinge shelves (P/N 1.3045-5; 1.3047-1/2) 1. To gain a better access to shelves, place flaps and ailerons downward. Remove a small area of paint from the flap and aileron hinge shelves by using a proper paint remover type ARDROX 2526 (Specif. MIL-R-81294 C) or equivalent. Note Paint remover has to be handled with care to prevent dropping in unaccessibile areas, then producing corrosion. 2. Visually check surface treatment (Alodine1200) of flap and aileron hinge shelves in the stripped areas. Note Treated surfaces are easily identifiable for their typical yellow colour. 3. In case of treated surfaces, use the current Maintenance schedule reported in the Maintenance Manual and skip to point 7 of this part. 4. In case of untreated surfaces, remove paint from all the surface and visually check shelves for corrosion, carrying out an accurate inspection in proximity of wing attachment. 5. If corrosion is found, contact Partenavia for the necessary actions. 6. If corrosion is not found, it is necessary to modify the current Maintenance schedule to check shelves for corrosion every 200 flight hours or 1 year whichever the first. Note Page 4 of 4 shows the flow-chart of the actions as per points 2 through 6. 7. Paint the stripped areas of shelves as previously painted and record the application of this Service Bulletin in the a/c Log-book. Page 3 of 4 PARTENAVIA Service Bulletin N 91 Page 4 of 4
